There are a couple of different ways to get this information. I would get a subscription to US News and World Report (www.usnews.com). They run a "top-rated med schools" (and grad schools, MBA programs, law schools, etc) every year. They rank most of the med programs in the nation (although I wouldn't give the rankings too much weight).

The good stuff, however, is that they give you average indebtedness of students when they graduate, average MCAT scores, average GPA, etc. It's worth the $9.95.

Second, I would recommend visiting the websites of the med colleges you are interested in. Some will give you info on their incoming (or last years) class stats.

For osteopathy schools, you can go to the AOA (www.aoa-net.org), to get an overview of general requirements that the O-colleges ask for, where they are located and links to their individual home pages.

Also, visit your local library or Borders and browse the career section. There are a couple of good books out there that give up-to-date info on the various colleges of medicine, student reviews, etc.
