When you see this on an NBME/USMLE exam can you assume that it is the ovary? Physical diagnosis stuff was not emphasized at my school. Also, is there some diseases that I should automatically consider if it says bilateral adnexal mass as opposed to unilateral mass in a woman.

adnexa=ovary+tube.

when you can palpate a mass, it is not normal. Think up a differential.
 
young = PID/TOA
old = CA

usually 🙂

Seems like I recall from OB that 25% of ovarian CA is Bilateral
