Hello All

I am new to the forums. Any advice would be great. This is my situation

I have an engineering degree in biomedical engg (under grad - foreign institution).
masters degree in engineering ( Texas Tech - Lubbock)
I have started doing post bac from an american university for pre dental - I need 90 credits from an american or canadian univ to apply for dental school.

This semester, I have about 15 credits, I work as a health care volunteer( about 10 hours a week) - (oh, I am managing A's in all of the courses)( I also take care of home full time since my husband travels a lot for work).
Next sem( spring 10) I would be taking 21 credits ( thinking of quitting work).
I have experience working as a Research assistant for about 2.5 years in medical imaging - co authored a couple of papers.
I worked as a graduate assistant too ( 2yrs).
I used to organize and attend medical eye care camps in rural india ( I did this for 2 yrs, every other weekend)
I am planning to volunteer in summer at a hospital as a dental assistant for about 2 months.

I am Texas resident. 25 yrs old. Planning to apply for 2012 year.
To make my chances of getting admitted to a dental school, what do I have to do?

Hospital?

Dentists don't work at hospitals and Oral Surgeons use Surgical Techs or RN's

You need career services at your college to tell you what you are missing. Every dental school is different.

Why would I exactly need career services? Could you elaborate?
I would be volunteering at CLINIC for homeless

Thought an outside opinion would refresh if I am missing anything.
I would suggest going to the pre health studies advisor not to the career services.

I think "career services" means some sort of pre-health committee at your school that will help manage letters of rec, and help with some guidance for application things. Although many of these pre-health committees are pretty useless, a LOR from them is almost crucial when it comes to applications. I don't know too much about your particular situation, but seeing as you have a MS from a US university you maybe able to bypass the 90 credits and just complete the required pre-reqs for admission. Contact a dental school in your area or one that you would want to attend and speak to an admissions officer for what they're looking for. Good luck!
