Hi all!
I am a new member here seeking for advice on the USMLEs..
I m starting medical school this september and it will consist of 2 years sciences, 3 years clinicals and 1 year internship. I have already done a pre me year (basics of sciences, anatomy, physiology and pathology).
When do you think should be the best time to start practicing questions for the USMLE step 1? I have heard people say I should start day 1 and others saying after the 1st year.
Also could you send me a list with the best known books for revision for every module?
Thanks!!

Play nice 😉

It depends on your goals and ability. I wish I'd started day 1. I got told the same thing ... "you won't be able to do much until 2nd year". BS. There's plenty of material you have to master from M1.

As for the books. Read up. They're all mentioned in the forum. In the end, the best book is the one you're going to read.

Didn't start until Around April of this year (2nd year) and am hitting 250s+ on NBME and UWorld assessments. The biggest thing you can do to help your chances on the boards in the first two years is to work very hard and do well in your courses. Consider Looking at First Aid or Pathoma through the year, sure, but questions? Meh.

I'm at the end of first year and I agree with this. It only takes a couple days of playing around with question databases to figure out how big a waste of time it is to touch certain resources clearly intended for those who have a proper foundation.

The way I think of it is...the more ways you find to retain important information from your classes is the way you are studying for Step I. Mechanisms, Concepts - you should know how to explain your physiology to a non-medical person...hopefully details will fall in place. Um...I hope.
