So I'm about to submit my AACOMAS application and just about done completing the secondaries. But I am confused about whether I should respond to this secondary question since it's optional, or wait for them to ask in an interview if it even does come up.

Stats: 3.5 CGPA and SGPA / 501 MCAT
- (honors first two years) and down/up/down/up trend the last two years.
I have 4 W's, 1 D, and 1 C-.
- I have retaken all of those courses.
- 4 W's --> 2 B's, 2 A's (all in Community College and due to parents leaving the country to visit sick grandmother, leaving me to stay at home full time to take care of my younger siblings)
- D --> B (Uni)
- (C-) --> C (Uni)
Some backstory, The D was right after transferring, and the classes were significantly harder (especially that class, the other classes I took were a B and an A. I have no excuse for these poor grades. I simply underestimated the amount of studying I needed to do and was scared to ask for help since the class sizes were much larger and I was new. I realized immediately that was not the way to go, and when retaking it, made sure to attend office hours, get help when I was confused, and study as much as I could to ensure I didn't make that same mistake again.
Do I mention these circumstances in my essay and how I've learned from them or would it be better to not include it?
Thanks, and I appreciate any advice
