Hello everyone, I am set to graduate this semester (Spring of 2017) with my B.S in Biomedical Sciences. I am planning on taking my DAT end of May, then applying in June. I have a few questions, first would it look bad if I applied about a month after the cycle opens? That way I could give myself an extra month of studying for my DAT. Or should I just stick it out and take it in May, the reason for me wanting to push it back is because it is pretty hard to study for my DAT and finish my semester off well at the same time... I have began to study, finished up with Gen Chem and am now working on O-Chem. Or should I just take my DAT late in the year and apply the following cycle in 2018? (I've been told this isn't a good idea, since I would be out of school for around 2 years).

Also is there anyway you guys could tell me where I stand as far as competitiveness?
oGPA- 3.66
sGPA- 3.71
bcpGPA- 3.92
Last two years of college GPA (upward trend)- 3.99
400 Hours of shadowing two different dentists
200 Hours of volunteering in a Hospital
1000+ Church volunteer hours
3500+ Work hours

Thank you all in advanced, anything criticism/advice is greatly appreciated. 🙂

Take it in May. Nothing wrong with it. Great GPA and a killer DAT will land you plenty of interviews. ECs look great too! Good luck.

Honestly, as long as you send in your completed app by mid-July, I think you should be fine. There's no huge rush to submit in May if you're not ready until June. Ace the DAT, submit your app, and you'll be fine with those stats.

Make sure you are ready to take the DAT, don't rush to take it. It is more important to have a good DAT score than to get your app in June 1st. Plus submitting your app in July or August really isn't very late, you would be fine.

Okay. Thanks for your input.

Appreciate it. Thanks for the reply.

What're you planning to do during your gap years?

Well, I'd only have one gap year assuming I apply in this coming cycle, and I would be taking A&P 1 and A&P 2, also would be volunteering and shadowing a bit more.

Consider research if you can find someone to support you for a year.. it could really benefit your candidacy at certain schools.
