Hello,

I'm interested in going back to do a post-bac. I had only taken one of the science pre-reqs during my college years. I finished my BBA in accounting (3.96 GPA) in May of 2003, from a decent school in NY. For the past year and a half I have been working as an accountant for one of the "Big 4" accounting firms. I would like to do evening classes over a 2-3 year period while maintaining my day job. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to not work. I would be willing to relocate as long as my present employer has an office in or nearby the university offering the post-bac program. Which Universities, regardless of location, offer quality post-bac evening programs? I have noticed that some of the programs with linkage agreements require SAT scores. I never took the SAT, ACT, or any other standardized entrance examination (Did not take High School seriously). If I took the GRE instead, does anyone believe that any of the programs with linkage agreements would waive the SAT/ACT requirement? Thank you for your time and help.

I believe most schools want GRE scores some take MCAT scores also if you are seeking a degree. I think most schools will allow you to take undergrad courses without the SAT since you have a degree.

For info about schools with post bacs look at the FAQ:

7. Where can I get more info on a specific program?

A lot of the more popular programs have been discussed on this forum so try doing a search for the name of the school. This can give you good info about how current and past students liked/disliked the program. Also, the AAMC has a good post-bac site with all of the programs:

http://services.aamc.org/postbac/

Also, the Health Professions Advisory Program at Syracuse U. has a fantastic site for getting information on post-bacc programs (Thanks Denali!):

http://hpap.syr.edu/LISTPB.HTM

If you can go to Philly, Drexel has an evening post bacc program with a linkage to the Drexel School of Medicine.

University of Maryland also has a program called "Science in the Evening"

Thanks for the replies, guys. It is much appreciated. I will utilize the search tool referred to above and will also look into the Drexel program. Thanks again.

I'm in the University of Maryland Science in the Evening Program. I am currently taking biology. It is challenging to do when working full-time, but you'll like it.

I'm not sure where you are in NY, but Hunter College is decent about offering an evening schedule. It has tons of post-baccs, and good peer support. It has linkage programs with Cornell and Stonybrook.

Columbia does not offer evening classes, and even seems to take glee in it on their website.

I think NYU may also offer the pre-med courses in the evening.

I believe one of the Pace branch schools (not the one in the city) also offers evening classes. I'm not sure what (if anything) they offer for a pre-med postbacc program, however.

Baruch College, mostly a business school, also has a pre-med program, and I've heard the advisor is great (partly because there's hardly any students in it).

I agree with the other posters, I'm pretty sure that SAT scores are not generally required for post-baccs. You should contact the admissions office at the school to verify this.

columbia lets you do part time/evening first year but second year it is suppose to be full time.

In Chicago, both Northwestern and Loyola have post-bacc programs. I've finished NWs program. The faculty is absolutely outstanding. The administration is ridiculous. You also have next to no chance on getting into NW by being in this program because they hold a limited number of spots for their own, and these are filled through the high school program.

I feel well-prepared to start school in the fall, and I'm holding 4 acceptances and 2 interviews, so the reputation of the school must hold some weight! The orgo section of the MCAT was a breeze thanks to the orgo class at NW.

Good Luck...I wouldn't want to start all over again!
