I am currently in a mess as regards my future plans. I came to the US as a serious student of public health but everyone tells me I am stupid if I do not go for dentistry in the U.S. Is doing dentistry in the US really worth it? I mean after taking such a gigantic loan. I can give the boards but I will have to wait till 2006? That means one whole year wasted as I graduate in May.

Would really appreciate some guidance. Would like to mention that I never felt very comfortable with dentistry although I did very well in dental school. Still, my clinical work sucks.

Would really appreciate some advice.

It all depends on how long u intend to stay in US. If u plan on staying for a while and go back to ur country then go ahead with MPH. But if u intend on staying here for long or settling here pursuing dentistry would be an ideal option because after 5 yrs or so u shouldnt feel bad for not dng DDS.gl

Hi
The important thing for you to decide would be if you truly want to be a dentist. You can work in a nonclinical field but I guess you need to do DDS/DMD before that. The big loans are ok as you do not have to pay interest on them until after you graduate.
Good luck
