So this semester did not go as planned. My cgpa is a 3.41 with 38 credits and my science gpa is a 3.47.

I took:
Bio 2- C+
O chem 1- B+
Sociology- B
Psych class- A-
bio lab- B

Bio 2 destroyed me because my teacher was in fact satan herself, but I was wondering if I should retake the bio 2 class at a local college over the summer so I can do grade replacement because my Universities bio department is notoriously bad. Any feedback would help.

I know I am good in the things that matter for biology, but my teacher made the class increasingly difficult for no apparent reason. Thank you for the advice.

You don't have that many credits so if you ace all your other courses, you can easily boost your GPAs. Only retake if you already done most of your courses.

You can't be certain that you will do well in upper division bio. I don't see anything wrong with retaking Bio (just make sure you will get an A), your GPA is fine though even without a retake.

Hello, fellow powerlifter.

I don't see any reason to retake it right now. If you continue on in your courses and want a small GPA bump (which will probably be insignificant), then go ahead and retake it. But get a steady trend towards mostly or all As and you will be fine.

Also, learn to stop blaming stuff on the teacher.

So what ended up happening is quite saddening. It seems I got a B- in bio2 which was quite a relief, and then turned around and got a B- in O chem. So sadly no change for the better there.

But you are right, I tend to do that a lot and I should stop. Thank you for the advice my friend. But I am sitting at a cgpa and spa of 3.3 at the moment and hopefully since this hellish semester is over I should be golden. A lot of outside things happened, like family stuff. Is that taken into account when applying as well? Just curious. Cause I learned my dad needed emergency surgery on the day before my finals which was pretty you know stressful situation.

of course it's stressful, but everyone has something going on usually. and these things will continue to go on while you're in med school. I hope your dad is okay, but I'm doubting that any ADCOM will give you a figurative GPA bump because of it, and I'm not even sure it would come up unless your dad's surgery/condition was somehow related to your decision to pursue medicine (ie you put it in your personal statement).

Two B- are completely fine. stop stressing. Work harder your last few semesters and bring those GPAs up, you're on the lower end of competitive for DO and really need to start nailing some upper division courses with As to bring that GPA up.

What was old Scratch like as a teacher? Mostly lectures, or flipped-classroom, or what?
