Hello everyone, I need some advice regarding schools to apply.
My april 2004 MCAT score - 12 PS, 11 BS, 11 VR. My overall GPA is and BCPM are a little over 3.7. Research project in Noninvasive Flourescence, summer in India volunteering for LEPRA, shadowed physicians in ER and other decent ECs. Also have killer LORs. Wrote a pretty darn good PS.
Also have killer LORs. Wrote a pretty darn good PS.

I am a NY state resident and am applying to the following schools -

All schools in NY state (including columbia which is a HUGE reach for me)
All schools in PA (including UPenn, which is also a huge reach)
UConn
Tufts
Finch
Pritzker
U of Illinois - Chicago
Dartmouth
UMDNJ

And just for the absolute hell of it - Harvard, Yale and Stanford. Yes, they are ALL reaches, I know...but I got the money to burn, so I figured why not...

Can anyone with similar stats or who know ppl with similar stats tell me how it turned out for them? what schools did you apply to? where did u interview? where were u admitted/wl?

Also, would you suggest any additional schools where I stand a decent chance? I am not URM. I am Indian (as in from India, the country).

I sincerely appreciate your advice,
Thank you,

I knew people with your stats at Hopkins. 😉

Thank you Andrew. I am considering applying to Hopkins. This may solidify my decision.

i'd say your stats are fairly strong. apply to the schools you'd want to go to, even if they seem like a reach. if you apply soon, that'll help your chances even at the schools that might be more of a reach.

Hopkins shmopkins. Don't you realize application to med school in 2004/2005 is VERY different then when you went to JHU. 😡

I know people with those stats rejected at NYU! I say you'll get the SUNY's for sure but no one knows what will happen at NYU, MSSM, Cornell, Columbia, Penn.

Harvard, Stanford, Yale, most likely won't work out but give it a shot!

I guarantee there are students (although probably only a few) that matriculate this year at Hopkins with stats like those. Yes, those stats are below the average for Hopkins but the average is made up of a lot of individuals and a 33 MCAT with ~3.6 is definitely strong enough to be one of those individuals.

Should I even bother with Wash U. in St. Loius? Or just conserve my money?
