Alright, so 30 days to go before test date.

Just finished the Kaplan course.

I've barely had time to look over the Kaplan Lecture books.

I've barely read the RR book.

And I've barely read FA.

No Qbanks started yet.

I'm not panicking, but starting.

I have 30 days, do I continue to trudge through the lecture materials of Kaplan, or screw it and start reviewing FA? Goljan audios, yes or no?

I'm starting USMLEworld and Qbank tonight.

Share your opinions guys, thanks, I appreciate it.

well you can barely finish the stuff that you didn't do, but it's very doable in 30 days, infact you can study for the whole thing in 30 days !
just do the Qs and review FA before the test, and do not go over low yield stuff. Good Luck !

why would you waste your time and barely study material? sounds like you wasted a lot of time.

Lots of people (pretty much everyone at my school, for instance) do all their preparation in less than 30 days. You'll be fine. Work hard!

It's hard to say what you should do because people get through material at different speeds. Figure out how long it takes you to do various things and do a little math to determine how much you will be able to get done.

30 days is more than enough. In fact, if you stretch it out for more than that period of time, you'll burn out and start forgetting the early material.

I'd plan on four weeks.

What I'd consider essential:

- 500 USMLE world questions per week. Do this in the mornings when your brain is fresh, read the explanations.

Supplement that with other books as you see fit. The books I'd consider to be on the "don't face step 1 without these" are:

HY Cell & Molecular Biology
RR Biochem
RR Pathology
BRS Physiology
Whatever you want to use for Pharmacology (flashcards would be my choice)
Micro Made Ridiculously Simple
Neuroanatomy Made Ridiculously Simple
Step Up
Step Up to the Bedside (cases)

I wouldn't waste my time with First Aid. It wasn't just low yield for my exam, it was no yield.

I know you said earlier that your test was heavy based on HY molecular/cell bio...I just got the new edition of HY. Can you offer me some advice on what chapters are high yield since I have 2 weeks before my exam?

thanks

Good question. I (unforunately) have the new edition too, no idea which chapters to read. Any help?

Use an objective marker to find out where you are in your studies. At this point, you have studied quite a bit more than you think. Take an objective marker of your current performance, and modify your studying based on the results.

In summary: take an nbme, see how you did, and go from there.
