AEGD University of Rochester Interview for 2011

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Like Tom Petty said, the waaaaaaaaaaaiiiiting is the hardest part 🙁

I sent an email to Ms. Marilyn Foy. She told me that some selections have been made and the next people selected are gonna receive an email or a phone call. A rejection letter is gonna be send to the others. She also said that wouldn't be until late february! We just have to wait now...

Does it mean that those people selected already now they are accepted?
Thanks for the info!

It means that if received an email or a phone call you are in. But they are still choosing the others selected.

Doctor Br:

Would it be possible for you to post Ms. Foy's email response? Or if it contains private communications, could you please post just the section discussing what you posted? Thanks

"Some selections have been made. If accepted, I would contact you by phone or email. If rejected, you will get a letter, but that wouldn’t be until late February."

so far I only heard of one guy, and he told me he doesn't know you so I guess the count is up to 9!! How many spots are there??

How can 8 candidates accepted to the program know each other?

yeah its a long shot... unless theyre all from the same batch and swapped emails... which is highly unlikely.

In any case 2 more weeks to go

Thanks for the info, Olley. Could you post your stats to see how we compare, especially if we want to improve our chances for acceptance next year? Much obliged - cheers.

So far only one person who got accepted posted here. Please people, keep us informed of what is going on.

Please, I know maybe this it a little bit early, but for those who don't live in the U.S., If accepted, are you planning to live 2 years in Rochester only with your savings or do you have another economic plan?

Hello friends,

Hello Olley,
Did you get accepted for 1 year or 2 year program?
Thanks

so by this time this means that we were not accepted?
How can we know this for sure?

There is no way of knowing it. Over Eastman they say they're not done yet. On the other hand, people say they already got responses.
The only thing left is to wait, wait and wait :bang:

As McVinnie said, i really don't know what to believe! This selection process could be more simple and clear... Wait, wait and wait!

I think the University has staggered its acceptance process. That is, I believe it might have offered spots to its top choices. The University will then wait to see how many of those people accept those offers before it sends out additional offers. It might be a way for the University to avoid accepting more applicants than it has room for in the program.

Olley, if you are reading, you seem to be the only person involved with this discussion board who has been accepted thus far. And you know others who have been accepted. Perhaps you could provide us with your (and, if available, your friends') details (NBE?, TOFEL?, years of practice?, dental school ranking/grades?) in order for the rest of us to use your success as a gauge for our potential admission. I think it would be greatly appreciated by all.

Thanks.

The problem that ,they do not answer the phones or e mails ? what cost them if they send e mails with acceptance or rejection ! why we should wait and at the end they reject us😡😕

did anyone hear from the university yet?

Nothing here.

Does anyone have information about themselves or other people who have been accepted, such as their NBE? TOEFL? Ranking/GPA? etc.?

Thanks

CAN SOMEBODY GIVE ME MARILYN FOY'S EMAIL ADDRESS PLEASE??

I have been trying to call her but she doesn't answer the phone. I want to apply to this AEGD program for next year...

I have applied to Uconn for 2011 and was not accepted 🙁

Her email is [email protected]

Keep in mind that it may be too early to ask her about the next year, she's still in the new residents decisions issue. Visit the website for 2011 updates.

Also, Uconn offers stipend for Foreign Trained Dentists, Rochester doesn't, and it's a 2 year progarm for FTD only (not 1 year).

Its over guys..looks like they are finished with the selections....those who are in pls post ur status n brief detail of CV.so we can compare ourselves:xf: with ur status n we can improve our resume.

I,ve tried reaching Marilyn Foy but as everyone said.."not picking up the phone"...Did anyone get into the program who interviewed on Oct 26th???

I just don't understand why we had a lot of people posting before, and suddenly, only a few (not saying the same people) post now looking for updates. Unless all the people who got acceptance letters do not participate on the forum (very unlikely). 👎 It is very frustrating not knowing anything.

Well i think they are taking thier time as I guess they decide the residents for coming December and for 3 years AEGD as well...so have no choice instead WAIT!!

I hope you have an idea of Clinical translational program...that is a Master's degree in dental sciences and AEGD or any other residency certifiacte. So the program combined together and duration goes for 3 years.Try this link out for further reference. 🙂

Hey Dazzler thanks a lot for the info! In any case if I read this right, u can choose one of the thee paths for masters programs and take them in tamdem with the AEGD or any other of the certificate paths at Rochester. Quite interesting! Am I correct in thinking that the same pool of residents will be used for this program or is it a different pool? That makes me wanna go to EDC EVEN MORE! Hope is back!!!

@mfonsec1> Ur welcome 🙂...Yes you can choose any residency with any path you like..isnt that interesting??? well i think they select from the same pool but off course you need to submit your application for master's as well as I did and let Marilyn Foy know about it...You never know what comes next...Happy that you found your hope back...Gud Luck!!

Yes it's the same pool. In fact I applied only for the AEGD program (which is only 2 year nor 1 nor 3) but after the first 2 interviews they told me to wait a couple minutes to have a talk with the Dr. in charge of the Master program because in the interview with AEGD director I told him about my interest in teaching.
After 15 min I then spoke to Dr. in charge of the Master but I didn't have the economic means to do it (there is no stipend).

Dear Friends.
I would like to know how many seats are available for the AEGD for 2012, is easy to get in?? when do i apply for that program??😎
How do i get the license in NY state??
