Hi all I just am wondering, some people that leave residencies without completing the full years may have still completed at least 1 year of residency. Say they satisfied their respective states' requirements for initial licensure, are they generally successful and getting jobs and making a good living?

"Successful" is relative. In general, you can get an unrestricted license in most states. But if you lack board certification/board eligibility, you will likely run into issues with getting malpractice insurance and with insurance companies paying you. You likely wind up with undesirable jobs like urgent care, prison medicine, etc.

It is a last ditch option for people who are terminated from residency and can't get into a new program. But it's not a path anyone should actively pursue.
