I'm just about finished my hours and about to ask for letter. Of course I'm going to let them know that I'm very thankful and appriciate the help. However, I'm just wondering if it is common to make them like a thank you note/gift? Or is that a little overdoing it.

It depends about the type of relationship you have with the person and their type. It always nice to be appreciative. If you do it, do not thank for the letter, but for the opportunity to shadow. And try to make the gift something special not just material value... In general if you feel the need to do it because you feel grateful, then do it,(never repress a good action).. but if you feel the need to do it in order to get a good letter, I would say don't do it...

Usually they expect a small gift like $1,000,000 to make up for the income to be lost in the next four years if Mr. Obama becomes president.
Just an idea, that's what I gave to the dentist I shadowed.😀

When I shadowed, I just brought in Dunkin' Donuts and coffee maybe twice over the month I was there. Since you are done, this might not work for you anymore. Also, maybe some chocolates or something for the holidays.

i still keep in contact with the workers there. 🙂 but umm you can stop by n maybe back them cookies to give them a gift. 🙂 cookies or chocolate... or starbucks on morning. 😀
