I got interview invites from multiple schools and my gpa is really low. It was a big surprise to get multiple interview invites with my stats. I know that your chance of getting accepted to a dental school goes up a lot once you get an interview invite, but do they also go back to look at your gpa after an interview?
I thought I'd passed their cutoff and that's why I got interview invites but this is starting to scaring me.

They do another holistic review after your interview. So they look at your application again and factor in your performance on the interview as well. Basically your whole application that you submitted still matters.

I’m screwed! 🙁

no, you're not
obviously, they saw something about your app that they liked enough to grant you an interview
as long as you impressed them in person, you still have a shot

Thanks!
I’m keep imagining the scene where the adcoms look at my app and saying “ is this person be able to handle dental school? I don’t think so.” And pushing my app aside.

I should think positive though..

If that was the case, they would of not given you the interview

I'm on the same boat girl! There's nothing to do but do our very best on our interviews, I suspect they matter more for us lowly folk than the higher stat peeps. If multiple schools are offering you invites, they must think you are fully capable of handling dental school, invites don't go out accidentally. Look at the GPA ranges and you'll see almost every school accepts people with sub 3.0 gpas or 17 DATs.

After I got each interview invites, I googled “interview invite mistake” lol. Okay! I will try my best for my one last interview left for pre-dec! Thanks!!!🙂

SAMEE. My first interview I had to call and confirm the date, and I told the lady my name multiple times and even had her confirm my application ID because I just couldn't believe it. She spent about 5 minutes reassuring me and giving me a pep talk lmaoo

They do apparently go back and review everything, so your stats and all that don't quite go out the window just yet. However, I have heard of cases where if your GPA isn't that great and you are still in school, they may not accept you Dec 3 but rather put a decision on hold until they get your fall grades.

Which schools have you interviewed at?

Siu asdoh and umn coming up.
I graduated and an taking two classes as a post bac right now and my gpa won’t change much.

Do you mind sharing which schools you got invites to? Im kinda in the same boat but only got 2 invites

If they interview you they want you. They do look at your application about a week after your interview to make the decision and the formula schools use to rank us afterwards is different for each school. Some value GPA and DAT more and other could have experiences plus volunteering more. Doesn’t really matter as long as you go in there and rock that interview.
