Uh...there might be some over 39 applying. 🙂

haha sweet i'm still the only 20 year old

I actually know someone who is 19 and starting dental school next year (from a BA/DDS program). Talk about speedy

Aren't you applying next year? That would make you 21 when applying. 😉

ah, but alas...the poll asks how old i am, not how old i'll be when i apply 😎

i too know someone who started dental school really early...jumped straight from middle school to undergrad, started dental school at what...18? pretty intense...

It's nice to see some non-trads here.

Who's going to want a 23 year old dentist working on them? My wife is a hygienist and she's 23 and people are even skeptical of that.

Who is going to tell them? Sure, you may look young but you don't have to advertise your age.

should someone be penalized because they are young, we have decided what we want to do with our lives early and if we are qualified to be in dental school at 20/21 then we are qualified to be a dentist at 23/24

Act smartly/professionally and people will think you are the Doogie Howser of dentists. . . they'll be begging to have you as their dentist

true. in the office its not the age that matters but the years of experience & quality of work.

but i do the see the point on the flipside. patient's will be wary of a doctor who's 25 than one who's 40, even if they are both from the same graduating class. :/

one of the dentists i work for looks fairly young for her age (30), and often times new patients ask us how long she's been practicing. she's a great doctor but the age factor does make some people hesitant at first.

not really a big deal in the end if you can win over the patients with your competence.

My cousin's brother's neighbor's nephew's cousin's little sister is applying to dental school. She's 12.

OMG I'm off the scale!!! I'm too old, I'm too old!!!!!😱

Yes it happens every day in the real world. Poeple go where they are comfortable. My grandparents still won't go to a female doctor because of the norm that was established way back when.

It doesn't mean it is right, when you are customer or a patient you have the right to be picky about who helps you. Or as you would say "penalize" the dentist for age, regardless of how much he knows.

i think it is common for people to expect their doctors to not be wet behind the ears. You young 'uns will probably have to put up with some crap related to that for a bit, but when you get to be my age, you'll have more experience over the chair than us older fogeys. So there you have it.

see, this is one of those instances where looking like you're 25 instead of 20 comes in handy 👍

I think "Dude...just chill in the chair" and "Muahahaa. Your teeth is now 0wn3d!" and talking about CounterStrike is a give away...if you already look young. It may works for you if you look old...helping the patient roll their eyes, laugh alittle, and relax.

If you want to look older, grow a mustache/beard.

lemoncurry, "wet behind the ears" ? I must be too young. What does this phrase imply?

bruinpresident, Borat!

haha, wet behind the ears, i like that. and yes...facial hair is a guys best friend...i can go from looking 25 to 17 in a matter of 10 minutes.

shane: Dzienkuje!
