first of all, there was no way in HELL that i could have done this without all of your help. second of all, i didn't really think i'd get to do one of these, because if i didn't match up to the average on here, i was going to go hide in a cave and no one would ever know that i took this damned test. sooo...

PAT: 21
QR: 16 (that was a ride)
RC: 25
BIO: 21
GC: 23
OC: 20
TS: 22
AA: 21

third of all, i hope that this might give some people who haven't been doing too well on topscore some hope. i made a post a few days ago really worried because i was getting 16-18 in the sciences for all three tests, except for a 19 on the last ochem, and i was absolutely DREADING today because most of the responses said i was only in luck for maybe an extra 1-2 points, if that. that being said, i did everything i could yesterday from staving off a heart attack, so i went to the beach for the day and got really burnt instead. ALSO, i went to bed at like 10:30 last night, and literally had organic molecules with teeth flashing in front of me until i finally got so frustrated around 3:30 from not being able to sleep that i went in to my parents' room and got into the bed with my mom and cried. then i got up three hours later to get ready. onward!

i felt that bio was really straightforward - i read cliff's twice, used wiki and some other sites, and got up to #260 in destroyer before test day. i don't really remember there being any "WHAT?" questions. i'd been worried because i only really put in about 2, 2.5 weeks for bio.

chem was actually the one i was most worried about, but i guess it all worked out in the end! i did pretty poorly in the class itself when i took it 4 years ago, but pretty much all i used was kaplan and destroyer. i did destroyer overall i think 3 times (both gchem and orgo), and 2 days before the test i really went over the ones i was still getting wrong.

the same to be said for orgo. i took that class 3 years ago, and it was so traumatizing that when i started reading it in kaplan, i might as well have never taken the class at all. so kaplan, destroyer 3x (yay road maps!), and the mcmurry textbook here and there.

i'm going to agree with the minority for CDP here and say that the PAT i got was pretty unlike TFE and folding. keyhole was about the same, angles were a little easier - OH, and there was one hole punch problem where the last fold they did made no sense, or at least i'd never seen anything like it. there was no paper movement - all they did in the last frame was add a line down the middle - i was so mad. pattern folding, holy CRAP. they had the craziest shapes, nothing like the crazy shapes i'd seen on CDP where you just need to pick out which "main shape" was the only real choice. cubes were easier on the real thing too. but i guess overall CDP was accurate score-wise because i was getting 21-23 on the practice tests.

took a quick break to use the loo and ate part of an apple and some chocolatey cats cookies from trader joe's. i signed back in and sat down with 22 seconds to spare.

RC was actually kindof enjoyable - DNA microarrays, calcium channels, and language. searched and destroyed for the first two, more inference for the language one, so i had to read the whole thing first.

QR... i knew from all the horror stories that this would be interesting. there were a few i came across and went "pfft" and skipped to the next one. with around 30 seconds left i just started clicking any letter for the last i don't know how many. i didn't really prep much for this part because i was putting all of my focus on the sciences. i went through regular destroyer once, and did the math sections in topscore and was getting 18s and 19s, but i had quite a few lucky guesses in there. hopefully it won't hurt me too much...? just obviously try not to do what i did if you can help it.

so at the end, with the clock ticking down to 0, i covered my face in my hands and peeked between the spaces while waiting for my scores to come up. but the survey came up first. so after i did the survey, i covered my face in my hands again and when i saw "2-'s between the cracks, oh my god. i have an overall 3.26 and a science 3.00 (as per aadsas), but built my way up from a well-under 3.0 gpa my first 2 years to 3.6 and over for the last 2 years, so hopefully SOMEONE will take me. i applied to 13 schools. psych major, bio minor.

again, a huge thanks to all of you 😳 good luck to everyone taking it soon!

thanks for the breakdown. In your opinion, what materials helped most for the bio section? Any advice for this section? All this "its so random" talk is getting to me.

whoo hoo! enjoy your feeling of relief that the test is finally over, and good luck with interviews

I've been doing about the same as you on the sciences and it has been ~3 years since I took Gen Bio (I got a B both semesters) so I know what you went through with O. Chem.

There is hope for the rest of us!

thanks everyone! i'm so happy it's finally over.

chrono, i'd say cliff's was the biggest help, but definitely not the best thing out there (that'd be a giant textbook). i read it twice, but had to really go over a few of the chapters like respiration, biological diversity, and animal form and function more than that because it was hard to keep all of the animals straight! taking notes helped. destroyer was helpful because i became familiar with some terms there that i wouldn't have even known to look for. wiki helped fill in holes, but only if i thought to question why. that's when i'd realize a hole even existed. so try to actively study!

Congrats on the scores! One quick question about taxonomy, how much detail do you really need to know? If you know the main phyla is that enough or do you need to know classes as well?

thanks everyone! i'm so happy it's finally over.

WELL DONE!!! I was wondering, do you think its necessary to know the entire 5 kingdom survery in great detail as outlined in Cliff's? Or should I stick with what is in Kaplan's BB?

to you and murl, yes. it was the last thing i looked at before i walked out the door this morning. i'd say know even more than what's in cliff's, because not everything's there. whatever else you happen to learn along the way like in destroyer or practice tests, take note!

Great job, Kneecoal!!!😀 You did brilliant congratz! Now go relax and enjoy a long well deserved mental vacay!

Oh, and pray for us that still have to take the DAT, LOL!

Hey Kneecoal,

Congratulations, Great job, you just raised my confidence. I read your post a few days ago with your last scores and so wanted to know how you do today. As for me, I have been so nervous that I have not even register for the test yet and keep pushing it in my head.

Good job. You nailed it.

ahhh kneecoal! you did it!

you really are an inspiration for me! Good Job!

btw, just curious, how long and how many hours did you study? 😀

thanks so much! i started studying in the last week or two of may till now. i had 5 weeks of physics 1 in there too, so that was a struggle, but i was studying pretty much all day every day (and night). i basically had to re-teach myself all of orgo and gen chem.

I took Physics a couple years ago and it is a BIG time eater, so I can just imagine how much time you had to devote to that.

ayo kneecoal, you blew the pants off this thing. have fun in dental school and remember to tie your hair bak if it gets crazy

I just read the part in your breakdown about that one mysterious fold on holepunching and know exactly which one you're talking about! Haha, I stared at that thing for like 2 or 3 minutes just trying to figure out what I was missing on it! I think that was a mistake. Like you said, there was no fold, they just drew a line. Seriously, :wtf:

awww girl.. your post brought tears to my eyes.. 😳 lots of emotional moments!!! Well.. congrats on your scores, you did quite well... I must say I envy the place and time you're at right now...

Hey Kneecoal, I have seen you and your posts around here for a while, and I am really happy for you that your hard work paid off. The Topscore thing gives me a little hope too, because I got a 17 in OC the other day, which sucks. Hopefully I too can proudly display my results and won't have to hide in a cave after my test next Friday! Thanks again for the thorough breakdown.
