Edit: by the way i interviewed 2 weeks ago, so they were a week behind, u might not even be reviewed till next week
 
I just found out that I'm "under consideration". Does anyone know what this means? Is it like a waitlist? I would really like to go there.
 
I am "under consideration" too and she told me that it meant that they had reviewed my application and put it into this category for now. Two things can happen based on how many people accept - either they will accept you out of this group or put you on the waitlist that they make later in the spring. So we are in limbo for now.🙁

Has anyone recieved an e-mail from Albany yet this week?
There is nothing worse than a school that tells you they're going to e-mail acceptances on date X, and then doesn't.

Most years, Albany ends up accepting a fair number from the "under consideration" pool, either directly as the cycle goes on, or from the waitlist they create in late spring. If it is truly your first choice, write a letter of intent. Albany says they go only by a composite score assigned after your interview, but a strong letter emphasizing how you are a good match for the school (clinical interests, experience with underserved, etc.) may still help.

What he said 🙂 If people who have interviewed 2-3 weeks ago start feeling antsy, the admissions office is really friendly and they're willing to give you your status over the phone. The least they can do is tell you whether or not your file has been reviewed so you can stop refreshing your e-mail by the second. If you decide to call, I'd do it late in the afternoon, maybe around 3pm, because e-mails usually go out by that time.
 
I called the school about an hour ago and found out i was accepted! I interviewed last thursday, and it looks like decisions have already been made on that batch of people. I was told though that emails and letters wont be sent out till next week (I guess theyre a week behind on that). Anyone else get a decision yet?
 
Congrats on your acceptance Johnny! Are you strongly considering Albany? And let's keep each other posted about when the acceptance e-mails go out. They told us last week over the phone that we would get an e-mail within a week. I suppose I can understand that they're swamped. Once the stats come out this year for # of applicants, acceptances, etc, I think we're gonna see a huge rise from last year. This year is just ridiculous!

Just want to know how long it will take for me to get it, since it seems theyre at least a week behind on that (like to have a concrete letter in my hand)...also, anyone else who interview on jan 11 or 12 get a decision?

This thread is almost dead...are there any other Albany threads around?
 
interviewed last wednesday...really loved it.

I still haven't got the e-mail or anything in the mail, I plan on calling again this thursday if still no e-mail. I think they are absolutly swamped right now.
 
Yea Disinence! Someone takin' it for the team. I was also thinking of calling Wed/Thurs, but I don't wanna inundate the office with phone calls (especially seeing as how you and I love to encourage SDNers to call the office!). 😉

I still have warm, fuzzy memories from my interview day. Good luck to those who are waiting to hear this Wednesday :luck: Let us know if you get e-mails, and as always, call them if you don't hear anything by late Wednesday afternoon and want to check your status.
 
I received the packet within a week of the email. But I wouldn't stress too much, I'm sure it's on the way.

So...I interviewed at Albany back in December (actually, over a month ago at this point). I liked the school a lot when I was there, but now I'm getting kind of bugged at them. They told us they would send out acceptance e-mails the next Tuesday, but no. My thing is this: why guarantee something if you can't follow through?
 
you should call them....its seems like they have made decisions but are delayed with the emails and mails. Thats how people are finding out their decisions here
 
Very True, If i don't get an e-mail tomorrow i plan on calling again, just as i was promised an e-mail last week, and im slightly nervious!
 
It is nerve wracking to not have received an e-mail to this point, but we're probably gonna be fine. As you pointed out earlier when I was worried, they did check our AMCAS #s and our names, right? Let's cross our fingers for e-mails tomorrow, but if not, we should definitely give them another phone call soon.

Im not too worried either, but mostly i want to see what the terms of acceptance are! My GPA's gonna take a beating this semester
 
Your GPA was crazy high if I remember your MDapps! The general rule is Cs and above, and you're good to go. We'll hopefully find out the terms of our acceptances soon!
 
Im sure our acceptances are in stone....I was also able to confirm my acceptance with my interviewer who is on the committee

Thats a good idea, i might do the same. Did u just e-mail them?

If I don't have an email by tonight im gonna send them an e-mail just to get the double conformation.
 
Did you guys get the e-mail addresses after your interview? They just gave me my interviewer's name and told me to send any correspondence to her at the admissions office address.
 
I just sent a friendly e-mail to the admissions office asking when we should recieve the e-mail and packet

Ill let you know when they respond
 
just received the acceptance email from albany...it says the acceptance package will come in a week to 10 days...hope it comes sooner
 
Haha, now I'm worried again. I'm gonna send out an e-mail tomorrow to see what's going on.
 
Ok my obbsessive pre-medness is kicking in again. This really freaks me out. TGI let me know ASAP if you get one or what they say haha!
 
looks like they forgot about the people they accepted on jan 9-10, lol
 
interviewed on jan 11, called school on jan 17 and found out decision, received acceptance email on jan 24
 
received the acceptance email last night (interviewed 11/1/06)

My e-mail said that they mailed them on thursday. I live about as far away from albany as u can get, so hopefully ill get it sometime next week.

I got the official e-mail on Thursday as well. Hooray, they remembered us. They also sent a follow-up personalized e-mail on Friday in response to the one I sent them earlier. The paperwork was sent out on Friday and should get to us in 7-10 days.

I'm not sure what the chances are, but they review this category throughout the application season. You can get accepted at any time from the "under consideration" category. That means, you may hear a week after or months after you get this initial decision.
 
I just got an interview invite from Albany. Is there class full or can I still possibly get a spot?
 
Last year several people were accepted with later interviews. Now go practice all those ethics questions!

interviewed on 1/17. have yet to hear...called on wednesday and they told me that i was "bumped" to the next week because they didn't get through all of the files.

hoping to add to this list soon!
 
Got my package today! I have no idea what my suit size is though...gotta figure that out before i send in the packet.

I also wish schools flat out told you what grades will make u loose your acceptance! I know im not doing all that great this semester....fricking spanish...
 
thread is dying again....there seems to be some AMC bashing on SDN

personally, i thought the school was fine and I liked the way they organize the curriculum...I suppose every school has its endorsers and haters, in the end med school is med school
 
If you look around at threads about AMC where current students respond, they all seem to have very positive responses. There is one vocal SDN member who transferred from AMC and for some reason had a bad experience. Based on other threads with AMC student responses, however, it seems that this is not the norm.
 
Ive been trying to talk to the one negative voice, and he/she has yet to give me any reason why they hate AMC so much. So its either so horrable they can't talk about it, or something that was probably their fault to begin with.

Apperently the Licensing committee had some issues with albany a few years ago, but no one has been able to confirm this or say what it is about. I don't think that guy even knows.
