agreed, that is just comparing AMC to another school

There are other threads in the allopathic section where current students defend the school, so in the end I guess it just depends on the person
 
Panda, the poster making the negative commentary is the above-mentioned transfer from AMC. If you look at other threads about Albany, current students have great things to say about the curriculum and the environment at AMC.

If you look at past posts made by these students, you can find info about anatomy lab at Albany among other things.
 
I agree! Albany still has a pretty good match list if u asked me! Ide say its in the middle third! Sure it doesn't have a huge research department, but thats not what im interested in anyways.
 
Its great they dont have a research department...that way students wont have to do research, which I really hate doing anyway
 
For anyone planning to attend AMC in the fall, there is a AMC Class of 2011 facebook group that you can join. This would be a good way to meet each other before school starts...
 
can anyone please tell me about the interview..i'd appreciate ANY info at all you can provide..will they ask about HMO's, malpractice, etc etc? i'm actually interviewing for the BS/MD program at AMC next week, and i'm scared witless. it's my first college interview! i'm assuming the BS/MD interview will be about the same as the actual med school interview, so please help me out wise ones 🙂
 
i interviewed on 1/22 and called in yesterday to ask about what the result was since the adcom meets every tuesday to discuss the applicants the week before. jackie said that they couldn't get to my app cuz there were just to many apps at that meeting.

any of you in the same boat? any of you who interviewed 1/21 or 1/22 and got a rejection/ acceptance e-mail?
 
i just received an acceptance from Albany off of the Under Consideration category, so it is moving for sure 🙂 ...interviewed back in Feb. :luck: to those waiting to hear from them!

it comes by email, and then they tell you they will snail mail it. drexel, i think we interviewed the same day (i was morning)...hope you hear soon 👍
 
i got an acceptance email today too! wahoo!
 
I was accepted Friday off of the "under consideration" list. Was on it since mid-Feb. Waiting to get the actual paper before I make any finite decisions.
 
I was accepted from the under consideration list on friday as well. I think I might be headed to Albany unless I hear from Case. Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Is everyone who was accepted recently planning on attending? I am and am going to be heading out there mid-June to look for apartments. Pretty sure I'm in for a rude awakening when it comes to housing. I've grown up West Coast for ever and am use to an "old" house being built in the 60's or 70's, not the 1860's. It'll be tough for me to realize what a good living situation is out there. Plus the weather.....

🙁 I'm sorry to hear that. I interviewed the same week you did. Out of curiousity, did they notify you via email or snail mail?
 
I'm still waiting on some decisions, and I don't know if I'll be going there, but does anyone know the area well enough to give some advice on housing? Please pm me.

THey sent me a rejection letter saying they didn't get all my app materials. Funny becuase over 20 other schools on my list got them. Liars.

hi, congrats!!!! did jackie give you the decision over the phone? i talked to jackie yesterday and she said i had to call back another day because the person who could "go over my decision" with me was out of the office....what decision????? :scared:

I don't think it was Jackie over the phone, and I honestly can't remember who it was-- I was too nervous to really listen! I would try calling today, honestly I just remember her telling me that she had good news for me and I remember thinking "well, a non-rejection is good news--- so how good of news?"
I'm excited to be going here!

took me 3 years also, congratulations. Only 4 more until we're overworked and underpaid residents.

I withdrew last week, after I found out I got into Drexel. Congrats to all who are in and good luck to the waitlisters. AMC is a great school!

For Those of us who are in the "Under Consideration" category, we should be getting some news pretty soon. Please post here if you get accepted or waitlisted.
 
I just called. I am still "under consideration", but they will have a confidential ranked waitlist next week.
 
I also recently withdrew from Albany. It's a great place, I hope you guys hear good news soon.
