please tell me if this is correct,

KMnO4 favors oxidizing internal alkynes
O3,CCl4/H2O favors oxidizing terminal alkynes

in essence does the nature of the alkyne being internal or terminal matter in choosing the oxidizing agent for alkynes??

I don't know whether those oxidizing agents favor terminal or internal triple bonds, but if that is true then you could use that info if you have 1 internal trip bond and 1 terminal trip bond. 1,3 pentyne maybe.

My notes I have O3 with S(CH3)2 reacting with both internal and external. I didn't see mention of which is favored. Dumb question but, what does KMnO4 oxidize an alkyne to? ketone/aldehyde?

KMnO4 oxidizes an alkyne to 2 carboxylic acids...
