All done with the CBT!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
just took the exam yesterday. the exam is pretty much how khurram said it would be. about 10% repeats from old exams. the most difficult section was anatomy, as the questions were very broad, and some very specific. branches of nerves were in the answers instead of V, VII, etc. after getting frightened in anatomy, i went onto biochem and with luck, i breezed through it with ease in a short amount of time as i got many more repeats and straight forward questions. lots of Calcium related questions. that section seemed similar to an older exam in comparison to anatomy which seemed all new to me.

questions from there:
opening of max sinus (i got it wrong) : hiatus semilunaris
most distal portion of brachial plexus: branches
picture to identify lacriminal gland (superiorly + lateral of eye)
if internal carotid blocked, art blood access through: vertebral art

rate limiting enzyme of cholestrol synthesis: HMG-CoA reductase
several on calcium regulation (parathyroid, Renal)
several Cell physio (rRNA, tRNA)
AA that forms urea: arginine
what 2 AA that are in Nutrasweet! phenylalanine +.... cant remember

i took my lunch and went in and decided to attack dent anatomy first since it would require 3D thinking. i did this by clicking Next for the 100patho questions, then started dent anat. 80% of the questions were of occlusion. cusp contacts etc. a LOT of choose the BEST answer that identifies the chosen tooth. so some may look good, but only one answer is right. took me 2 hours because of all the occlusion questions. i then clicked on review, and it took me back to patho. patho was a little more difficult than i thought. terms i had never seen, especially in immuno. finished with 6 minutes left.

green pus: Pseudomona Aeru.
alk. phos. increased in: prostate carcinoma
pili in gonorea for : attachment
scarlet fever : strep pyo
colon dis: crohn

bennet movement: lateraly
5 pulp horns: 1 mnd molar
interdental contact positions
heights of contour
Cl II occlusion contacts
lat contacts w/non-w
pulp/root canal shapes in cross sections

several other questions i would post, but i cant remember if i got them right. the only section i have big doubts is in anatomy. visceral symp, ganglionic and autonomic innervations killed me. but, as long as you study, you can make an educated guess. the key is to be able to identify most of the answers. i would love to have taken the exam 10 years ago, lol. but it was fair game. lets just wait and see. 😎

Hai chompers!
I can't believe both of us had the same paper...Looks like it has gone cool for u.Atleast one of us have done well.
I thought DA sucked with all those questions about mutually protected occlusion and all 🙄
Remaining sub was okay.Frankly i dunno if i was right r wrong.
Regarding the question about n.gonorrhea,i literally scratched my head to mark b'w fn of pili as it has both phagocytic n attachment..i didn't know which was more important.. :meanie:

Some more questions i remebered from the xam for all those taking xam:\

DA
A 35 year old female has mutually protected occlusion.her canine is removed..
i dunno the remaining part of question. But the choices were:
functioning group in posterior teeth only
ditto anterior teeth only
some thing like that.

Max 1pm has 3 roots. which is considered an anamoly:
2 facial 1 lingual
1 facial 2 lingual
1 mesial 2 distal
1 distal 2meisal
1 facial 1 middle 1 lingual

The question chompers has written about nutrasweet,That contains aspartame n phenylalanine.

Vitamin precursor of cholesterol..think it is vit D not sure.

The endogenous cholesterol is eliminated from body as...i guess cholic acid..

Citrate n EDTA inhibits bld clotting by binding to:[i marked ca]
the choices were Mg,Fe,Zn...Dunno the right answer though..

That's all i remeber for now guys..Waiting for the result is the worse part.I was not tensed to give the xam..but now i'm so damn scared...Will i pass ?how much will i score?oohph!! :scared:is all i'm able to think n dream these days...

Keeping my fingers crossed

Hey chompers..
man it seems like my exam may have been the same as ures as well those questions sound very familar, and like u said anatomy was my weak point as well really broad and at the same time specific! and i also remember a lot of calcium related questions...i really wonder how they go about changing the CBT tests do they change the order of questions or just have ahuge bank of questions and they choose 400 to make a test from any given day or do they keep the same exam all month or what!? does anyone know?

One correction though in ure questions,

I'm pretty sure that alk.phos. is raised in Paget's disease of the bone, and ACID phos. is raised in carcinoma of the prostate...correct me if i'm wrong 😀

yes, the answer to alk.phos was not prostate carcinoma, but as i was under pressure for time in patho.... i overlooked the answer : osteitis deformans. if i would have seen "Pagets" disease, i would have chose it. 🙁

i actually thought the test was throwing questions at you at how well/poor you performed. i also thought the test was random from a question bank. and i spent a lot of time trying to breakdown the reasoning of how they were going to score the test. a certain number of difficult/easy questions would be distributed to the students? each one with different point value? from the looks of it..... we got the SaMe test that day. so from there is where we get evaluated.... from each other. i took the test the same day gorur did, and can now guess that we are compared to those who take it the same day. it may be done on a monthly basis, that im not sure of.

the worst part is, how do you answer the question of "how did you do?" you really dont know until those scores come in. all ive been saying is "well, i hope." lol well, its now a 2 week wait to determine my future. and for now, i dont know if i should celebrate, or remain calm. its over...... for now.... 😕

a question asked is how is the test broken down to? well, you get 2 sections of 3:30min. each with 200questions. that is how i did DA first. after completing the 200questions, you get to Review your marked/incomplete/all questions.

now, the real worry is.... how are so many people getting 95+ on this exam? the only answer is that several are bombing it. so, in order to get a high score 'easily' there must be several low scores :scared: , thats how it works. ugh, i wish us all the best :luck:

Dude, my thoughts exactly! it's like ure reading my mind! i'm so f'ing nervous!!!! tomorrow i'm gonna find out but guys dont bother checking till late night cuz i wont see my unlce till late tomorrow night and if he arrives to late i'll have to get the scores in the morning...oh my god i can't belive that he has them wiht him but i just can't know what they are! its' driving me nuts, when i first found out he had them i started shivering really i did i was almost hyperventilating! let's hope that some people bombed the test so we get easy high scores~! but let's hope those people aren't us!!!!

i know right!!!! i got an anxiety attack 4 days before the exam, when i did a couple of questions and i guessed them wrong and went to bed. tight chest, couldnt breath. hell, this is what represents us. our degrees mean nothing.

so we can all just hope some idiots bombed the test, especially those in dental school who just need a 75+ to pass. lol. but who knows how we did. well, i wish everybody the best, but in this case.... anyhow, hopefully the nights + days of studying paid off. or else.... theres always the 90day policy. arghh.... i need to stop thinking about it. fate shall be delivered on the 14th day.... will there be light or darkness?

much love for every foreign dentist, as we love what we do. best of luck :luck: if that exists.

The ADA claims that it is scored just like the DAT, in that they view the performance of candidates from the previous three months who had the same set of core questions as you.

For example, if candiates have something like 40/100 questions that are the same, then they are in the same core group and their scores are verified and scaled off each other's scores.

But that certainly wouldn't be the first time I've received a bogus answer from the ADA testing services department.

Not according to the ADA technical report (which you can download at the ADA website for free).

Remember, a lot of questions get tossed due to several reasons; 1) people just flat out miss them. 2) people with overall good scores are missing the same questions. 3) people with overall poor scores are getting the questions correct.

Any of those three situations is cause for the ADA to throw out a questions (this is directly from the ADA website). The stats in the report show that up to 10 questions from each section have been thrown out in the last couple of years.

I think it would be 2 lingual 1 facial..but then who knows 🙄

Thanks for your reply.when are you taking your cbt?And can you help me with this qs,the distal branches of brachial plexus

about the score evaluation, a high 95+ means you fall into the top percentile. its the bell curve. "two factors affect a candidates score: #of correct and conversion scale for the examination." .....bell curve. back in chemistry lab in college, the teacher would say, since there are 20 students, there will only be 3 A's, 6B's, 8 C's or so, and maybe 3 or so may fail. there is a curve, that way you can determine the 95+ students and the 85+ students. if it was too easy, then people getting 100percent would mean the test was too easy and it wasnt an appropriate exam since it did not measure that persons ability. in dental anatomy, it is difficult to get the high score because it is the section where most people do well, meaning the curve very small to almost none if many people pull 100%.

yes, there is "up to 15percent of the items that are not accounted for purposes to see if they meet established standards of quality." so that could be good news.... meaning the questions i didnt 'understand' could be 'sim' questions. lol. or the ones i got right were the sim questions.... bad news. lol. 😀

for anvi; the question was like so: which of the following is the terminal portion of the brachial plexus:
a. roots
b. trunks
c. cords
d. rami
e. branches<--- which consist of musculocutaneous, median, ulnar, axillary, and radial nv.

Hi,
I think the answer for that is branches ,isn't it?

Hi,
What are the distal branches of brachial plexus?and Max 1pm has 3 roots. which is considered an anamoly:
2 facial 1 lingual
1 facial 2 lingual
1 mesial 2 distal
1 distal 2meisal
1 facial 1 middle 1 lingual.
Anvi.

Hai anvi ,i felt the question itself [max 1pm] having 3 roots was an anamoly. 😀 .I thought it may be the last choice i.e facial, middle n lingual.Oh! but i dunno if i'm right. It was just a guess 🙄 .
So u r planning to take the boards on 10?all the best.

:luck:

Hi everyone.
I gave my CBT Part1 exam this momday.. Test was not tough but it was tricky. You really have to scrutinize the text before u go to give the exam. i studied Kaplans text and found that that is not enough . reading text books are necessary.
I was afraid to give CBT but as I have given GRE and thought to be liked that. But in this test one can review answers as like written test.
