Anyone else with interviews stressing out about not having any acceptances yet? I know it's a better boat to be in than no interviews, but it's nerve-wracking.

8 interviews, 1 waitlist, 0 acceptances, 0 rejections

Hey. You'll get some med school love. Don't worry. With 8 interviews, I would think you would get something. Patience is a virtue, but I know it's probably agony waiting for that thick envelope to arrive in the mail...

hey man, hang in there. with 8 interviews, you have a lot of shots at sinking that ball!

If by similar situation you mean schools don't seem to want to interview you then yes.

I got my suit and my application, and no interview

So yeah I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go

Anyone else in similar situations?

Kind of in the same situation. I've interviewed at 3 schools, waitlisted at one and I know I didn't do well at the other. I still have 2 more interviews to go though so hopefully it turns out well 🙂

Yeah, I'm somewhere in that ballpark too. 3 interviews, 1 waitlist, no answers. Still hoping to snag another interview or two, but for right now, just sitting tight and trying to compose a letter of intent to the best of the three.

statistically, even on the worse case schools 5/6 gets rejected post interview. so the probability of you getting rejected out of all the schools is (5/6)^8, which is approximiately 23%. this is like a worst case possibility as most schools has probabilities of rejection lower than 5/6.

me too...😕 🙁

Here Here

4 interviews

2 waitlists
2 unknowns

3 interviews, 1 waitlist, 1 "hold", 0 acceptances 🙁 Thought I was the only one out there, good to know I'm not alone. Kinda sucks doesn't it? Hopefully everything will work out for all of us!

4 interviews

3 hold/continuing review
1 haven't heard yet.....

waiting on a few more schools for an interview- i hope!!!!

i was in the same boat as you, 8 ints no acceptances, and then bam, 2 in a week and a half. i'm guessing most of your schools are non-rolling as are mine, so youre set.

6 interviews
2 waitlists
4 unknowns

i'm too impatient for this.... i was thinking today, i always get the question "what will you do if you're not accepted to med-school", well I've always replied that i will simple keep reapplying till i do. i thought of a better answer and it goes like this:
interviewer: "what will you do if you're not accepted to med-school"
me: "well, actually i've thought about this a lot lately, and after exploring my options, I've decided that a noose might work best, though the third rail is relatively simple and easily accessable, and drowning maybe a little more romantic..."

I've had 4 interviews, 1 waitlist, 1 rejection.. I'm waiting to hear from Wake forest (I hear they waitlist most people at this point) and temple (they were interviewing for the waitlist when I went). I still have 3 more coming up (total 7 interviews) but its late and I'm fearing waitlists at them all!

Same here! I hate the waiting. It's very painful.

2 OOS interviews leading to 1 WL and 1 unknown. 4 IS interviews which will all go down to the match on February 15.

While it is nerve wracking and there is a possiblity that these schools could crush our dreams, there's not much we can do at this point except for maybe an update letter/letter of intent. If you had good grades in the fall, get that **** in.
:luck:

i know how you feel. i wish there was something we could do besides sit back and wait for decisions...

Haha, c'mon Szhao, you've busted my chops over math before, you should know better than that. You're assuming independent probabilities. It only works if med schools choose which interviewees to accept out of a hat.

ugh drowning is my worst fear...romantic isn't exactly the word i would use!

my situation is bleak.

no interviews.

andddddd.... i even talked to our pre-med advisor. she got to take a look at my LOR and everything. her response:

"My colleagues and I are still investigating what‘s going on with your application. We’re not finding any major impediments that would explain why you haven’t gotten interviews at this point, so we’re contacting some medical schools to get their feedback. We’re waiting to hear back from them at this point.

Looking at your app in more detail, I have a couple of minor things that I’d suggest you alter if you need to apply again, but nothing major. I’ll let you know what these are when I get back to you with feedback from the med schools. It’s nothing you should worry about right now – just some really nit-picky things – none of which would account for why you haven’t gotten interviews at this point.

"

yeah...

Where are our math people? This sounds like a perfect setup for Bayesian logic :shudders at memory from genetics class:

cali is f*ckin rough! 😱

VERY stressed....only got 4 interviews, so not doing as well as the OP, but:

1- coming up
2- no news
1- Waitlisted

This is torture!! what are your chances for acceptance with 4 interviews?

6 applications
4 interview offers
3 interviews
1 acceptance/scholarship to a school a really don't know if I want to go to.

My boyfriend got accepted 2 places the first day (pre-match), and an interview to every place he applied to.

really regretting turning down that interview.
I'm in Texas, so we have to do that AWESOME match process Jan 15. waiting sucks.

Johnny, I'm in the same boat as you. And I think we are both desperately awaiting decisions from NYU.

7 interviews: 2 Rejections, 1 Withdrawl, 1 Waitlist, 3 Pending, 0 Acceptances

7 interviews - 1 "competitive applicant pool," 3 waitlist, 2 pending, 1 reviewed but no decision and will be reviewed again soon.

It depends completely on the schools. I subscribed to that US News thing, so if you want the stats for your schools PM me. Pretty sure I'd get in trouble for posting things like that.

I didn't get my first acceptance until the end of April, and I know plenty of people that got accepted over the summer. It blows like no tomorrow, but the good news is that the jig ain't up just because you haven't heard yet. It is only January, after all. 😉

Good luck fellas.

i like your thread title. i've said it in different threads about the same subject, but it's worth saying again - interviews are not independent events, so going 0-5 (like I did) is always a possibility - if you're a bad interviewer, you could have 125 interviews and still be stuck filling out amcas 2008.

Yeah, I wanted to start a thread people would actually respond to so I tried to be clever... 😛

o.k. so this thread soothes me when i need soothing so therefore, my stats:

5 interviews
1 R
1 WL
3 no response yet

wow, i'm surprised that your pre-med advisors would go to bat for you like this. at my school, if i told them i didn't have any interviews, they would be like "so, you need applications for both mcdonald's AND burger king?", at which point i would have told them that i was thinking more high end - i.e. carl's junior.

Haha, I was going to mention Bayes, but thought better of it.

not a big fan of bayesian estimations, those seems like a hoax to me haha. especially when you do bayesian approximations of constants in neuro networks.

Yeah, but you can't believe that a guy who's got the stats to get into e.g. Harvard has only a 1 in 5 shot at Columbia, do you?

Have you guys heard which schools have the fastest moving waitlists (if such a thing even exists...)?

2 interviews
1 waitlist
1 "unranked pool of undecided applicants"

6 interviews--2 rejections, 4 unknowns:scared:
4 interviews pending
I'm really getting anxious.

Side note: When I went to some interviews last week, I talked to about four other people that were on their 6th+ interview. One girl, like the OP, was on her 8th and still no acceptances. It made me feel better that I wasn't the only one. But it also made me irritated that some schools take so long to let you know. I want to know whether I should be applying for some full-time jobs 😡

5 interview offers, 2 declined, 3 accepts 👍

7 ints, 3 pending
2 waitlists
1 final pool applicants (analogous to a WL)
4 no replies

4 interviews
2 wait lists
2 waiting on (1 of which is top choice)
