conan o'brien mentioned one of the stats on his show

i wonder how large their sample size was lol

Scientists at the University of Montreal launched a search for men who had never looked at pornography - but couldn't find any.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/relationships/6709646/All-men-watch-porn-scientists-find.html

Interesting study. But sampling out of 20 men does not necessarily mean "ALL" men watch pornography. Unless they only interviewed 20 men out of a larger sample, anyway. And it looks like the study is pretty localized, too.

Not quite sure what this has to do with premed, but whatever. It's interesting.

"on average, they first watched pornography when they were 10 years old."

Does that seem mad early to anyone else, considering it's an average? (for every guy that started at 13 there's one who started at 7, whilst being in the 2nd grade).

maybe they found daddy's playboy stash?

I'd believe that every man has looked at porn. The only exception being maybe one or two hyper super religious kids that somehow managed to never go through a rebellious stage

Shocking news. This is like the news story that ran about "Democrats appalled with Obama's decision to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan."

DUH.

For every guy that started at 19, there's one who started at 1 .

See how I can make averages up.

I'll tell you one person who has never watched porn.

The Pope.

I am sure some people from poor places have no access to porn. media to watch.

I must also point out that the blind have difficulty watching, as well, to be blunt.

lol no reason to assume a normal distribution in a group of 20 people. there were probably a few outliers. for instance, there could have been eighteen 9yo and two 19yo for all we know. The average is exactly ten years, and there are "old" people represented. There are, however, not people far below the mean age.

Porn is a staple of life, like bread or rice.

When I discovered internet porn, I stayed home from school for 3 days straight with "a bad cold."

Soooo much methodological problems with this study....

  • Tiny sample size
  • Lack of controls for comparison (but making statements about how porn viewing did not "change their perception of women," etc. -- WTF?!? You can't make those statements w/o a control, you just can't, doesn't work)
  • And so forth...

Porn is like a public utility that everyone needs. When we watch porn, we are doing more than engaging in sexual stimulus. We are unifying. Long live the Pornicus Maximus.

I am a contributor......but I do know someone that claims to have never watched or even played with his on gold "member"!!

now that I dont believe...!!

He is, without a doubt, a liar.

Hell yeah I have/do watch porn, you're one weird dude if you dont.

Strongly agree...that biological drive is as powerful as hunger or sleep, not one human being can overcome either or those. Its human physiology and although they are two entirely different functions it is an easy comparison to make between a guy who sees a naked woman for the first time (a novel woman), and a hungry guy who sees a hot pizza: there is a primal urge to satisfy that biological function. Women can call men 'dogs' all they want to, but you might as well call a hungry man who dives into that pizza a 'dog' also for being so 'weak-willed'.

For every guy who hooks up with a girl, there is a girl who hooks up with a guy (unless he's lucky and there's two girls :D)

While I'm not saying this isn't true, I don't think you can accurately state that it is.

The following statement is true as well:

"All women watch porn"

come on....it's not just men....a porn video involves a male and a female so viewers can be both male and female.

whats wrong with porn? sex is a natural animal activity and you're suprised that people find it intriguing? I see. I'm guessing you'll be equally suprised to find out people are actually doing it! crazy, I know.

anyway. I cant get my MDapps figured out. its been like three days. I suppose this will disqualify me from med school. gah.

People always saying this seem to think that it means that the populations of guys and girls must be the same size. True, at everytime that they hookup, there must be a guy and a girl (excluding homosexual populations), but the whole groups could vary in number greatly. For an extreme example, lets say that 20 guys say they hooked up with a girl in the last two weeks. It could be that one girl hooked up with all twenty of them. Therefore, there aren't necessarily equal numbers of promiscous people in each sex out there.

Actually, the fastest growing demographic for buying porn is women 30 and up. I saw it on this porn special on MSNBC.

Not to mention how easy it is to access it now a days. It is just human nature.

yeah, but what about the size of Ben Rothlisbergers head (sp?). and I don't mean figuratively. That thing is HUGE!

It's Montreal. The kids there start drinking and hitting clubs when they're 14-15... do you really think they wouldn't get an early start on porn and sex as well?

From what I've read in various magazines such as Psychology Today, men are visually stimulated (thus the affinity for porn), while women are, well, not so simple. For them it's more of a feel (thus the affinity for romance novels and romance-based movies), and it can be said they are orally stimulated (no pun, meaning auditory).

I'd like to hear some of the ladies' responses/comments to this these posts.....ladies?

Not surprising at all. There's always that friend with a brother or dad who has a secret stash that he happened upon and shares with everyone. I remember being around 10 and looking at my friend's brother's collection from the 80's that he had hidden in an army surplus ammo box in the woods.

Puberty is tough. Sex is always on the mind. It's there staring you in the face every morning, and popping up randomly during math class. It breeds curiosity and frustration. I'm willing to bet that no matter how adamantly someone denies wanting to see pornography during puberty there is a part of them that definitely wants to even if just out of curiosity. They'll look purposely, even if for only a few seconds, before turning their head, but they've seen it. Whether it's a magazine, a movie with a sex scene, or even a real life picture in an anatomy or health book...they look, and not for mere education. It's even easier to do now that the true purpose of the internet has become apparent.

I remember being 13, back when a 300 MHz processor was ridiculously fast and the internet was not so wide-spread, and paying $35 for a VHS copy of Wild Things. I played those famous scenes with Denise Richards in them so many times that her formerly amazing physique is still burned in my retinas.

Everyone has seen some form of pornography at least once. I just hope the Canadian government didn't fund this study as it is rather pointless. NEWSFLASH: SUN HOT COMPARED TO EARTH

Haha... I think you meant aurally...although IIRC women's lips are supposedly quite sensitive and one of their most sexually "stimulatable" body parts (moreso than their genitalia).

Why do they keep doing studies on obvious things?

"Lowering calories helps lose weight!"

"Smiling makes others like you"

etc :D

Also, according to my girlfriend, lots of girls watch porn.

I heard from one of my female friends (who is a bit overly feminist) that porn has the "male gaze" which means that it's shot from a male perspective for the preferential enjoyment of males rather than females. So even though many videos feature both male and female, a female might not necessarily appreciate it (as much as the male).

Yeah, I think it completely depends on the woman but in general I doubt they will like porn as much as men. Hell, there are some porn out there where I'm offended and I don't have a vagina. I'm sure it'd be worse if I did.

It's kind of like... Hmm. Twilight? Twilight is a bit too extreme of an example, but basically, lots of [scary] women can appreciate it. Only a few exceptional [weird] men can as it has a "female gaze" to use your term.
