Certainly! In nature, when it's not breeding season, it's the males that tend to scavenge since they are migratory from one pride to another; it does not work like it does in The Lion King, unfortunately.
In desperate times, a lot of true carnivores will scavenge.
And I thought I was the only one that watches discovery channel and the likes.
Actually even in abundant times the lion will scavenge (true for the big carnivores in general). What's easier to get as a lion 1) a gazelle that is alive or 2) gazelle that is being eaten by a couple of hyenas? I think you know the answer to this one...
