Today is my final for Physics 2. I am finished with any and all physics!!!!...well until I take the MCAT next spring. Celebrate good times c'mon! :soexcited:

For those that are finished now or soon from now...what are you happy to leave behind?

Me: RIGHT HAND RULE. It's so stupid.

I am taking my final for Physics 2 as well! I'm happy leave behind interference of thin films.

Before my physics 2 final, I would wake up from nightmares doing the right hand rule. 😳

I just took the MCAT, and god willing I don't need to retake it, I am happy to leave waves behind.

I am entering Physics 1 this semester, other than high school a couple of years back I really have no other experience in Physics. Is it a pretty tough class to grasp? I know all teachers are different, but hopefully you can base your judgment off of the material within the subject. Physics SEEMS like it will be interesting but yet pain in the ass. :scared:

The concepts aren't hard if you practice. Do millions and millions of practice problems and you will be completely fine.

I loved physics, I even TA'd for Physics 1 for a semester after I took it. The key to passing physics is to first make sure you really understand the concepts and aren't just memorizing formulas. I took calc-based physics and I'd recommend this one because I think it's a more intuitive approach as opposed to algebra-based physics. Second, as the poster above me said, do A LOT of practice problems. You'll find that most problems you'll encounter in physics follow a similar pattern or situation--for example, a ball thrown off a cliff in kinetics, or a closed circuit in E&M. Once you're familiar with the pattern/situation, problems with different specific circumstances will be cake to figure out.

Fantastic! haha. I look forward to this for two reason in general. Physics can help you understand the world from a different point of view, AND it is on the MCAT! Maybe I can finally start my practice exams soon....after O-Chem :meanie:

All I can say is that I hated it while I was taking it, but now that it's over I'm glad I went through it. I definitely developed some problem solving skills/critical reasoning from taking it. Also as said by everyone else, it's on the MCAT. 😀

The right hand rule made no sense whatsoever to me for a long time. Then one day it clicked and I was like, "This is so stupid!" For me, it's easier to just remember that if the direction of current is moving away from you, the field will be clockwise around the wire.

I finished physics this summer, but I'm I'm probably going to have to retake the MCAT (Got a 28Q) so I'm going to crack open my Kaplan physics book again :scared: I'm not looking forward to it. Like others said, the key is to just do as many problems as possible. If you have to use a cheat sheet for the formulas, you haven't practiced enough, because if you had they would be ingrained in your head. I can do kinematics, gravity problems and conservation of energy in my sleep, but I'm really weak on electromagnetism and optics, which unfortunately is what the MCAT focuses on most.

Why is everyone hating on the RHR? I'm assuming we're talking magnetic force RHR. Allow me to edumacate:

Step 1: hitchhike in the direction of the particle velocity (thumb=hitchhiking)
Step 2: point your fingers in the direction of the magnetic field (sign language B, B for magnetic field)
Step 3: if particle is positive, force comes out of your palm (high five for positive thinking!)
if particle is negative, force comes out the back of your hand (b****slap that problem particle!)

Congrats on finishing all your summer classes and with A's to boot!!

It was a rough summer but we made it through!!!

Time to enjoy the next few weeks until we do it all over again 😎

We know how to do it. We just think it's gay.

Congratulations to everyone who finished up Physics!! I know how difficult it is to take Physics in the summer session. I took Physics I this summer session and ended up with a B. I had to take a different class in summer session 2 because of interference from classes in the Fall that I need for graduation in December! Congratulations on finishing the sequence and I can't wait to be done with it in December! 🙂
