Alternate List-Is it a NO?

I got a letter indicating that I am on the alternate list meaning that in the event of an accepted student deciding not to attend, depending on where I fall on that list. What is my chance? Probably none right? Just wonder if anyone has a similar situation.

Get your head out of your rear end! You still have a good possibility. I know at my school, some of the smartest in my class came off the waiting list
