I’m having trouble studying for the MCAT in my apartment. This is largely because of excessive noise - neighbors on one side arguing/yelling or blasting music, upstairs neighbor stomping around or exercising at nearly every hour of the day (random, loud, echoing bangs or booms that break my focus alongside squeaking floorboards), construction around the apartment complex that at one time involved actual drilling and hammering into one of my walls....

Further, this lockdown has me far more sluggish than normal and it has taken more time for me to get into that study mode.

I had always thought I would be able to escape to the library each day for hours on end while studying for the MCAT. I’m really desiring a dedicated study space. Has anyone found an area in their community that better serves as that dedicated study space?

i live in Norfolk, VA. some coffee shops opened up, and i saw people there. I also noticed people in the parks, - this one female had a very nice setup. Put a blanket on the grass near the pond, under the tree, books everywhere, snacks. she looked very comfy.

If your area is still locked down, you might try playing music while studying or using white noise to drown out the outside clatter. Have you tried noise canceling headphones?

As for sluggishness and getting going, you need a structured routine. Get up, eat something/have coffee, study (use pomodoro to keep yourself focused), break for lunch, study, break to exercise/dinner, relax and/or study as needed. It’s boring, but effective.
