Hi all

To those who have taken the altius test prep program, could you give me some advice as to how you were successful in developing your notes during lesson prep? I'm having a real hard time developing steps to generate good notes to review. Did you write everything down? Did you just read the material and then try to understand it conceptually without making notes? How detailed were your notes?

Thanks for the help!

I read through the notes, wrote everything down (typed, really, into onenote so I could draw and insert images/cloud storage/ease of search), and then used what I had typed to make Anki cards to review in order to retain things long term.

Edit: Anki is hugely important. Some kind of spaced repetition to keep your old information fresh will be incredibly useful for you, especially if you're starting in the fall for a spring exam (which is what I did). FWIW I did well on my MCAT.

@scoops619 Thank you so much! How did you incorporate the supplemental EMP links?

I never used them. I think they'd be useful if you needed help really fleshing out a topic, or getting a more conceptual "big picture" grasp of the topic, but for whatever reason I never found them necessary. It never came to this, but I think I remember wanting to use them if I was having trouble getting my head around a topic, as doing the research yourself will help the knowledge stick with you. YMMV, though.
