It's going to be my second year in college. My first year I wanted to gain some confidence so the only Pre Requisites I completed were Bio,Eng, and Sociology. This year I want to put my foot on the accelerator. For next semester I plan on taking

Is this too much? I know medical schools look for how rigorous your course-load was so I don't know if this is too little or too much.

I agree. Calculus isn't hard at all. Chem and Physics are very manageable together (and actually work well together when it comes to thermodynamics and gas theory).

Psych and speech should be easy, but I suppose that depends on professor and stuff.

I mean you should gauge your own abilities, but it doesn't seem like an impossible semester. Just put the time in.

Personally, I would not want that schedule.

Chem, Physics, and Calc all have the potential to have a lot of homework each week and you could really find yourself in a sink or swim situation depending on if you had these in HS and how much you remember.

Psychology could be a mixed bag, either being super easy or lots of reading and essays and Speech has the potential to be quite a bit of work depending on how well you can BS something.

Chem, Physics, and Calc together I would not fear all that much, it's when you lay the other classes on top, that have the potential to take quite a bit of time, that the problem arises.

This should be in the schedule thread. Anyhow, that courseload isn't hard. It's pretty typical. Just make sure to love and appreciate math.

There's a thread specifically for scheduling but here's my opinon. Chem, Calculus, and Physics are tough together. Whoever said they're pretty standard...it might be for them but not for me. I'd struggle. Of course this depends on the university and professor but that's a lot of conceptual learning (especially if some of the subject's are new to you).

You should edit this saying what you're most willing to drop. I would say drop calculus (it's not too hard but depending on what kind it can be time consuming and stressful). If not that, then try to drop both Psych and Speech and put in a class you know for sure is a total blow off. If psych and speech are total blow offs then maybe keep the schedule. I'd take off calculus for sure because it looks like you're a first yr making your second year schedule. You'll need chem and physics for the MCAT so definitely take the year series for (this will be ideal for the MCAT). Don't mess with the MCAT during the school year. Get it done during the summer. I swear, just sacrifice the summer. A lot of people do it and they're in a better position come time to apply. 1 pt on MCAT = .1 GPA. Don't make the same mistake I made overvaluing GPA. MCAT is critical!

Depends on your work ethic. Personally that'd be pretty standard/not bad at all...

I just got done with Differential Equations, Organic Chemistry and lab, Clac-based physics and lab, and Fluid Mechanics.

And I think that's comparable to yours. That was 20 credits on a quarter system. Just plan to do homework every night, I had to each day. And your weekends won't always be fun. But if you can handle studying and homework everyday with some on the weekend you'll be fine.

Huh? This doesn't look like an overly challenging schedule at all. I think you're fine.

It's possible to ace everything with that course load, it just depends on your work ethic and outside obligations. I aced a semester w/ this courseload:

Cell Bio + Lab
Chem + Lab
Physics +Lab
A&P +Lab
Chem/computer course that met only once/wk

You just have to stay focused. Good luck with whatever you decide on 👍.

You'll be fine if you maintain good time management and don't fall behind. My freshman year classes were Chem + lab, Calc (+ "calc lab"), Calc-based physics (+lab), Spanish, and an English course. I'm pretty math/logic-oriented, though, so this was actually easier for me to handle than Bio + Ochem together sophomore year, which is all memorization and little to no logic. You should be fine, especially since you already have a year of college under your belt. However, don't be afraid to ask for help if you find you are struggling!!

Depends on which AP classes (AP Physics, AP Calc, and/or AP Chem) you have taken in high school, how difficult the courses are considered at your school, and how many EC's you will be managing that semester.
