While these other people "can't make it" in their respective fields, you have the social skills of a mole, so instead of deflecting and trash-talking people who don't side with you (ie, 90% of the people here,) maybe you should just focus on why you can't make it in LIFE. I don't think I have ever seen so much arrogance on SDN before you showed up. Goodness, that must be a real solid 22 minutes of shadowing in the hospital.

I'm calling your manager - my pizza did not come as I had ordered it.

He has been here since 2004. What are the odds that you had just learned what your weewee was for by that time?

That is actually half of the posts/day that I have. And barring your early sign-on actually about the exact same as yours if we are only counting this thread 😉

You don't know that guys situation or why he came to medicine. As a resident what he is saying is probably partialy flavored by being jaded by putting up with people as ignorant as you and partially flavored by actual honest-to-god real-world experience. Something something you likely don't have since you are complaining about a UG chem course.

I'll take the money, even though it disgusts me.

I guess I'll profit also 🙁, but only because the money is there and would go to the greedy CEO's if not me 🙄

So let me guess the OP will never work in a free clinic or do something link Doctors Without Borders?

lol, nor will I. Aint nobody got time for dat!

Doing stuff like that is all fine and dandy -- but not for me. Now that I'm in, the only "volunteer" work i'll even consider is maybe a mission trip -- and this is only for my future residency app

No I didn't. I never implied that the OP is a lesser human being. You assumed a lot, which makes an ass out of you. My point was that the OP is clearly motivated by things you can't take with you to your grave...

Why do his motivations matter? Being motivated by money does not mean one will be an unethical physician.

Shadowing a doctor can be like licking the icing off of a turd cupcake. Sorry bro, but you will still have basically no idea about what it will be like to be that doc. 👍 Almost all of us have shadowed and we still for the most part change our minds about what we like because 1) we didnt really understand what that practice was like and 2) there are so many other things you get exposed to that there is no telling if you will like something else more and 3) you have a few board tests to take (and possibly an MCAT?) before you start talking about the specifics of your medical future 😉

Then how are ALL of you SO sure you want to be doctors if there's no way to know if you'll like the job.

Well.... I loved the pre-med courses I took, am currently in med school and love the courses here, and have had a variety of clinical exposures.

the "yo I just went and shadowed, im gunn' be a docta yo!" (i.e. stood in a corner and watched something new to you and therefore biasedly exciting) mentality really doesnt get you too much. Another common one is "I just know I want to be a doctor but I hate literally everything I have to do in order to get there" (classes, clinical volunteering, subject matter, whatever) which is also just a fun instance of pre-med naivete 😀

You dont know if you'll like med school clases til you get in..so how are premeds supposed to know?. Also, liking basic (irrelevant) undergrad sciences is a better indicator of whether or not you'll like the job than following a doctor around and getting familiar with his schedule and procedures? The doc i'm with told me he disliked his undergrad sciences (and felt that they were pretty useless) but loves his job. And many of his colleagues felt similarly

I didn't even read your post. Given your username "youmdbro", you're picking the wrong career.

Yeah, actually, I wrote that while I was sitting on the pot, because that's about all that your worth. Not sure what issue you take with non-trads; one could make the argument that you are also a non-trad, since trad = 4 + 4. Regardless, we all can agree that you are rude and deflective - so way to focus on the points of the messages, son.

what exactly are you trying to dig out here? I'm late to this circus but it seems to me that you are mad because you got called out for applying as a HS grad to an accelerated program and now you dont seem to either like it or be able to hack it. In real world terms, the valedictorian of my HS dropped out of college and words as a retail manager. Actually a high % of the people who graduated my HS with various levels of honors and distinction went on to do a myriad of unimpressive things  This is the basis for hating on accel programs. But otherwise.... why u being all butthurt, bro?

traditional med school acceptance is contingent upon demonstrating to a reasonable level that you wont get in and then decide it isnt for your and just drop out. most highschoolers have not demonstrated this. That is all. Can you kno wwith 100% certainty? no... that is why people do in fact drop out. However the reason the dropout rates are low is they make sure people who get here really want it - an effort to minimize people who are clueless.

Still lol'in at this kid

Not butthurt just having a great time laughing at how mad these self-righteous "doctors" are

Why are you guys arguing with someone fresh out of HS, there is no way to win or sway his opinion.

1. He is a miscer
2. He is young
and 3. He is a miscer. A miscer has an unlimited arsenal of "u mad bro", "jimmy rustled", and "u jelly"s. There can be no victor in an argument against a miscer that involves no logic.

i dont see any examples of "mad" or "self-rightous" except from you. You just dont appear to like what you are hearing so you deflect by saying the other guys are mad. but then again I only skimmed this thread because it is kinda silly

What the hell is a miscer?

You guys are toasting in a roll bread

Lol you must be dumb, i aint even mad

so you're admitting that you are trolling then.

This is subsequently the worst troll ever, in that case... typically it is the regulars who get mad and rage and not the troll himself.

Strong reading comprehension to medical student status ratio. If you think these guys aren't mad then you're illiterate.

Yeah you mad.

yeah, and as a fresh HS grad, this is the #1 tactic by which someone who actually is mad tries to get the upper hand. Deflect and feign smugness while pretending everyone else has the problem

You don't have to admit that the responses got you all butthurt, you really dont. We already know it 😉 But something magical happens sometime in college for many people where they stop caring what the jockey d-bag thinks and subsequently his attempts to pat himself on the back carry less meaning. Keep telling us (and yourself) that you are busy laughing kiddo 👍 you arent fooling anyone
