Hey guys,

Sorry for such an alarming header but here is my concern: I am an unofficial post-bacc student, however in the school I was signed into an AA (associate's degree) major (since I was an Unclassified Health Major) the school is a 4 year institution granting both associates and bachelor degrees. I am nervous that schools or AADAS will see my transcript or grades and assume I went and took all my pre-reqs at a community college (which is not the fact.) I am trying to change my major ASAP as I recently found out about this, but if I cannot change in in time in order to apply for 2012 cycle. Will this be a problem? Meaning how will schools know or not know whether this is a 4 yr institution. I just want to make sure I didn't shoot myself in the foot and that schools dont think I took all these classes at a community college.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

how will you not be able to change your major in time? the cycle opens in june. How difficult is it to change your major. In my experience its just visiting a website and choosing the major and thats that. or you go to the registrars office/your majors office and bam changed. It shouldn't take but 2 weeks max to get it all changed in their system. you have got time buddy. just get on it right now

my school has some window that I have to make. otherwise I will have to apply later. how will AADAS or schools know whether I went to a 4 year and what will make it or break it?

Have you applied before? When you fill out your coursework and things it will say the school you went to and the school code. This should indicate what type of school it is. I do not think it should be a problem. If you are truly worried, when you esubmit and the schools have received you app. Call them and explain the situation.

the problem is my school is not listed in the AADAS website I have to manually add it myself so I wonder what that entails.

I am confused, why would they "assume" you took your pre-reqs at a community college? If the name of your university is not classified as a community college, then it is the traditional 4-year university IRRESPECTIVE of what major you declared at that university

so dentalworks, the name of the college is **** College of Technology, its a 4 year public college. the problem is its not part of the AADSAS list of colleges, so I will have put Other and then add it in. How do they usually differentiate a 2 year community college v. a 4 year school?

bump can anyone else chime in?

One would suspect that you are not the first person to apply through AADSAS whose college was not on their list. In all likelihood, the differentiation between a 2 and a 4 year institution will be evident from the course work you have taken and the degree that you have been awarded. All of this presupposes that the college in question is a bonafide institution of technology and not a technical school.

I don't think anyone on sdn would/could give credible/helpful advice for your issue. We don't work at aadsas. You should probably call and ask them directly. I don't see it being a problem though 🙂
