Amazon Pharmacy ready to take over the pharmacy world.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hassan minaj covered this a few months ago. I stopped using amazon since. Literally stopped ordering from them haha
The dropped health insurance for part time Whole Foods workers a few months back and I dropped them too. $150-200/mo of subscribe and save. F that. Now I just buy direct and from ebay,

Antipsychs and Alzheimer's/Parkinson’s meds are one of the highest reimbursed.

Recent aripiprazole 30 mg 90 ct for ~$30 net ($57 - $27 nominal acquisition cost) billed to Medicaid

As for faxed requests for transfers, there is nothing to prevent the requesting pharmacy from putting all the required information on the fax itself.

My original post was about helping me get a job at Pillpak. I already tattooed Amazon Pharmacy on my left arm and a picture of Jeff Bezos on my right arm in preparation for the job interview. Someone please help me.

Based on how they run the rest of the company, i have a feeling this would be worse than cvs. All theyre gonna care about is numbers and data. I wouldnt take it.

hope you know how to self cath and use coke. Because that’s the only way you’ll be able to stay awake and at your desk long enough to hit Amazon metrics.

What is Amazon’s sale pitch gonna be tho? What can amazon do that hasnt been done already? “We pack all your pills in one small bag”? There too many laws in place for amazon to use their antics.... unless they change the laws. I cant see this happening.

As someone working in an independent, dear god I hate Pillpack. They keep calling every once in a while telling us to reverse a prescription because of various reasons they make up such as "They want to transfer" or "They doctor sent us this script but we can't bill it because you guys still have it billed.". I immediately hang up cause it is usually straight BS cause they ask us to reverse prescriptions that the patient literally just picked up like 1-2 days ago or are patients that are like 70+ years old, doesn't speak any English at all and are frequent customers around the store in general.

We also have to frequently go through out refills due soon and bill it as soon as possible and call the patient to pick up because once Pillpack gets a hold of the prescription, they are doing anything to can lying straight up to not let go.
Had an interaction that went as follows: New technician accidentally reverses a script because they took the call > Pt comes in later that day to come pick up but we can't get it back through cause Pillpack > Call Pillpack and they said they would transfer us to a pharmacist and proceeds to hang up after 5 minutes of holding > 2nd call pharmacist told us they don't have the authority to reverse scripts, puts us on hold and hangs up >3rd call we asked to speak with a supervising pharmacist and they said they don't know how to reverse the billing, puts us on hold and hangs up > 4th call they told us they already sent out the prescription so they can't and hangs up

This is where someone should be calling the state board.

Amazon has failed plenty of times. Remember the Fire tablet and Fire phone? I don't either. Healthcare is much more complex than electronics.

You can't really do lost leaders in pharmacy because of laws. They can't link it to Prime because it will make every person eligible for Medicaid or Medicare ineligible for Prime.

if we received a fax from a pharmacy asking us to call them to give them a transfer it would go straight in the trash can.
No Rph info, I'm not transferring based on some automated system. Unless a human RPh contacts us directly, Pillpack can go F itself with automation/runaround. Like others have mentioned, I don't think Bezos understands fully what he is getting himself into

Why would that be a bad thing? What percentage of Prime users would qualify for either of those?

Everyone who is over 65 is now automatically ineligible. They would have to actively make sure and remove those eligible from Prime per precedent. It's not practical for them.

Young people take birth control, ADHDs, anti depression and anti anxiety meds. Go work in a pharmacy in a young area, plenty of business.

This is so true. Also, young girls are getting so many antibiotics and antifungals. It is unbelievable.

You cant make money off of antibiotics or adhd drugs.

Antibiotics, usually no. ADHD meds on the other hand.... I’ve never seen so many people willing to pay cash for specific NDCs that aren’t covered by their insurance...

This may vary by region but in general, adhd drugs dont reimburse much.

I think they’re somewhere near Renton or Kent. Not like the desirable areas.

It's all relative. My sister who lived in WV her whole life moved to Renton and then Puyallop and she thinks it's the most amazing place ever with anything you could ever want.

I felt the same way about suburban Philly when I moved here. When you come from living 45 minutes away from Walmart and only Walmart, Renton is the ****.

Renton > Walmart, definitely. It’s amazing to think of this area as desirable, but I suppose a lot depends on your experience and perspective.

I always felt like Philly could be the next Portland. Cheap, some interesting natural beauty, bridges and rivers, and a manufacturing history. It seems like it could be a neat place.

Maybe it's because I grew up dirt poor in the south, but I think Renton is just fine. The main strip looks like kind of a cheap suburb, but there are nice houses and condos in the area. The whole landing area near the Boeing plant on Lake Washington is very nice too. You don't nearly as many people shooting up heroin or screaming at pedestrians there as I do in Seattle. The commute to downtown would be a nightmare, but I bet Renton to Kent wouldn't be so bad.

Maybe I'd feel different if I were 25 and wanting an active nightlife, but my main interests are good restaurants with a selection of craft beer and hikes on the weekend.

I don’t think it’s because of where you grew up. It’s probably mostly the rapid rate of change Renton has undergone. 10 years ago the idea of good restaurants (ie not Cheesecake Factory) and breweries in Renton wasn’t a thing. It’s easy to forget it’s nothing like it was.

You're missing the forest for the trees. If Amazon ran its own pharmacy it could offer Prime to Medicare, Medicaid, pretty much everyone. Think about the business model.

They probably have enough money to lobby the govt and get it changed. They fought collecting taxes for the longest time.

You're missing the point! They don't need the govt to change anything because those laws don't apply to them.
