AMCAS 2005 Submitted/Processed/Verified/Transmitted

I made the mistake of sending my transcripts on the day I submitted, but it is fine now:

Submitted: June 17
Transcripts received: June 24
Active: June 25
Verification started: June 28
Processed: who knows???
Transmitted: ????

Processed 6/28.

One week, not too bad. Now it's time to just clench my cheeks and hope that secondaries don't have their way with me and my wallet 😀 .

When will schools start downloading our apps from AMCAS? Will our "welcome" page say anything when they do? Thanks.

leechy:

From what I gather, it will list the schools you designated and then list when they downloaded (if they get AMCAS electronically as opposed to by mail). But that might be wrong.

how is it that you had everything in after me and your verification has started before mine. is my transcript exception slowing me down? (transcripts were sent in around june 5, app submitted on june 23)

Yay, AMCAS is being verified, and I only submitted a week ago. Now I hope I didn't make any major mistakes while filling out grades, etc...

I didn't even see "Verification". I checked this a.m. and it still said 'Active', then just a few minutes ago, it finally said 'Processed'!! 😀 Now onto the secondaries.

Hey Scubadoc, I'd check yours now....you never know!!

And Katie, I submitted mine on 6/21.

still nada. amcas hates me.

Finally processed! 6/28/04.

They did make two changes to my grades - adding an AP credit and "Foreign Credit Accepted". Those were two things I didn't think to put in, as they didn't seem like grades... I'm going to assume those changes were responsible for the delay.

Good luck everyone ('specially Scubadoc!)

thanks akimbo!! i'm still hopeful...into week 3 here....

Hey, I submitted my AMCAS on 6/16/2004 and my transcripts were already in. I just got processed today; however, they made a mistake and classified my General Chemistry class as COMP. What is COMP anyways? I have asked them to reconsider it; Plus, I need to change my ph. number there; Does anyone know how long does it take after you resubmit the bio-information. So don't worry guys, yours will be done by the end of this week.

Good luck!!

Thanks Dani-by the way, comp is computer science and technology. pretty weird for them to make a chem class computers. not sure about the bio stuff...

Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of us who are in "active" status but have a "transcript exception pending" are waiting around longer than everyone else for verification to happen?

I submitted on 6/19. Was on hold til 6/22, when the transcript exception request was entered. Active ever since, but no sign of verification.

I had a transcript exception pending, and I was processed in 5 days after submission. They already had my transcripts though.

has anyone had their app transmitted already?

How do you know if it is transmitted?

I'm so happy that I am finally processed. Now we just have to wait to transmit.

Arg. I went to print my application for my records when I noticed that the AMCAS people had placed an X for correction next to each of my courses. Further investigation revealed they had changed the credit earned for each class from 4 credit hours to 1 credit hour. My school didn't really do credit hours, although it says on the back of my transcript that each course equals 4 credit hours. Sigh. I hope this doesn't hold things up. I mean, I already waited until the end of June to submit! If things get screwed up and my application doesn't get out to schools until July, then I'm completely f**ed!!Oh, God, my life is over and I'll never be a doctor!!!

Your right. You should just give up now. 🙄

Well I submitted today, and my transcripts are in. My application status says active so its just a waiting game. How long do you think itll before I get verified. I'm thinking around July 10th or so, before I'll start to worry about it.

I took the April MCAT, didn't do so well on them and will be retaking the test in August. Do you think itll help that I got my application in before July? I do have a set of scores (may get me an interview at my state school, if i'm lucky), but just wondering will i start getting secondaries or will most schools wait til the August results are in to decide on sending 2ndaries?

thanks and let the waiting begin.

I'm likewise in the waiting game.

This is a response that I received from AMCAS this AM. I emailed them yesterday to ask about transmission dates.ENJOY!

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for contacting AMCAS. The first transmission date for
processed application will be on or about July 6th. Please continue to monitor
your application regularly.

Thank you,

AMCAS

Yep, as I predicted...you were processed before me! 😀
I actually did go ahead and call AMCAS and ask them when I might expect my status to change to Verification (*not verified, simply verification*) and was told the official line again "it takes a MINIMUM of four weeks for the STATUS to change." grrr. So again, no love from AMCAS and I still have no idea what is going on. I just hope they verify me with no problems by the time these get transmitted. I'm kind of thinking it was useless for me to try to get my application in early when it is so random as to how long it takes to get processed.

Ok. off my rant. going to go do some studying...bye!

Hey all..

I called AMCAS today and while they said July 6th in an email reply to someone, they told me today that the first transmissions would begin on Friday, July 2nd. now...we know most schools will take a holiday for the 4th so I wouldn't look for much before the end of next week. hope all is going well.... 😳

so i was processed today, and when i checked my grades, amcas "corrected" a computer and information proficiency exam i took in 8/2002 that appeared like this on my transcript: comptr & info proficient...grade: 08/2002...hrs: 0.0...remarks: "C". (C=computer and info proficient)

here's the deal. amcas changed the grade of 8/2002 to "C," which is listed two columns to the right of the grades. i'm sure this most likely doesn't mean much to schools, especially since it's a 0 hour course, but the fact that they gave me a "C" for my grade when it was an exam i passed sort of irritates me. also, it's sort of a blemish on my otherwise A and B transcript.

anyone have any experience with something like this? i'll most likely not do anything, just cuz it'll be an added hassle to try and reverify, but i'd appreciate some input. thanks.

also, why does amcas change an A+ to an A?

Since it's 0 hours it won't affect your GPA so don't worry about. I understand how the C ruins the asthetic of your transcript but that's life. Maybe if someone sees the C and thinks its weird/bad they will ask you about it in an interview, giving you a chance to explain.

So it looks like they take a week for most ppl.

yipee!!! they finally received my one (count 'em; one) transcript today. i would be thrilled if i was processed by the end of this week, but i won't hold my breath.

AMCAS is probably too GD busy transmitting the app's of all you out-of-this-world-too-cool-for-school early-birds. not that i'm bitter. 😀 😉

Since my appl. is ready to go, does it mean that my appl. is going to be one of the first ones to be reviewed? The reason why I am asking this is because I submitted mine on 17-18thish June and it has been verified and processed.

If AMCAS doesn't start transmitting until July- does that mean they just go ahead and transmit all the apps they've processed in random order? Or do they transmit the apps that got there the earliest?

well, not knowing for sure, i can only imagine that they transmit the app's that they entered in the system earliest before the others. of course, if process were to be randomized at this stage in the game, i'd be cool with it 😀

*laughing maniacally*, I mean since my transcripts were in at the beginning of June before I submitted, and I am almost at the end of week 3 waiting to *begin* to be verified, even though my application is still "active". So there's no telling how long it will take for anyone. Seems anywhere from 2 days until the end of time. 🙄

What I've heard (note I don't claim any special knowledge) AAMC doesn't really "transmit" any special time. Med schools just wait and start downloading their apps when they're ready. There may be a start date before which they can't do it, but I don't think they have to passively wait for AMCAS to get sent to them.

I got this impression from the admissions secretary at my preferred school.

so what you're saying is that there is a pre-determined date by which AMCAS makes your app available for schools to download but that the actual "transmission" of your app to the various schools could come at a later (days? weeks?) date (and this is school-specific?)?

if so, i suppose this would make as much sense as any theory.

This is what I was told as well. The schools download their applicants when they choose to do so.

Yes, that's my understanding. Although the only reason I could imagine for schools to wait to download would be because they're still dealing with admissions for the 2004 entering class.

Already had transcripts in for a few weeks

Gulp! I hated clicking submit, but it is nice to have it out my hands 🙂

Just submitted - 6/22
Transcripts already in
Status: Active

Processed: 6/30 (1 week)

By the way, I was a reapplicant, so I had virtually no changes for them to correct.

Treg 🙂

Is there anyone here who submitted before me or around the same time (6/14-6/15) who is still waiting for their application to change to verification status? (Hoping I'm not alone!)

hey KatieOConnor, i had a similar issue with AMCAS changing transcript stuff - AMCAS changed the academic standing of about 16 of my courses, so they each have an X next to them (as i saw when i went to print up my processed app). I don't see how corrections could hold things up, though - since AMCAS has already made the changes... am i right?
