Under Review 7/11
Placed on hold 7/12 for 1 credit hour I received from a seminary in high school.
Taken off hold and placed at the end of verification line 7/19
Will be waiting another 2 weeks probably. This sucks.

Just found a mistake in my verified app - they converted my credits wrong, so I'll have to call them tomorrow and I'll probably get bumped right back to the end of the line with you

AMCAS submitted 6/4
AMCAS verified 6/14

I was wondering if one of you all could answer a question I have. I submitted my application on June 4th to AMCAS and it was verified and (I think it was) sent to Baylor College of Medicine on June 14th. Now, I originally had only Baylor on the list of medical schools to send my AMCAS to when I first submitted it. On June 24th, I added a few more schools. However, my AMCAS status page on June 14th had said that the application had been made available to Baylor once I had it completely verified. I called Baylor and talked to them about how they receive AMCAS applications, and they said that they will start uploading them on July 5th or 6th. My question for you is, since my application was ready for Baylor on the 14th, but I added some schools on the 24th, will Baylor treat me as an applicant who was ready on the 14th, or as an applicant who had his application only ready on the 24th (basically, did adding these extra schools delay my Baylor submission as well)? If I now look at the PDF file created under the print application button on the AMCAS page, it says that my submission date was the 24th, but I wasn't sure if Baylor would treat me as a June 14th applicant, since technically I had them already added at that time. The reason I ask this question is I know Baylor screens applicants in the order of the way applications were made available to them, and since my application was verified on the 14th and Baylor was my only school at that time, I'm hoping that Baylor will treat me like an applicant who was ready on the 14th. However, because I added these extra schools, and resubmitted and recertified, I was wondering if Baylor will now see me as an applicant who was only ready on the 24th? I know a difference of 10 days won't hurt me too much even if they see me as an applicant who was only ready on the 24th, but I just wanted to make sure with you all. I would really like to have a good shot at this school. Your response is greatly appreciated.

I asked AMCAS about this and they didn't even actually "give" the verified applications to the schools until the first week of July. Baylor will treat you as your application being one of the "first" as long as it was verified and ready to go before AMCAS gave it to them that first week of July. So don't worry, it didn't bump you down the line.

I wouldn't get too upset yet...there's still some of us out there who've been waiting since 7/1. I can't explain, but I'm getting ready to cross the 4 week mark here pretty soon.

i assume we recieve an email when the application is verified, right?

I am amazed by the AAMC's efficiency this time around.. at least for some of us :meanie:

WOW, that is amazing! You lucky bum. Now tell us how did you bribe your AMCAS reviewer to get the verification done so quickly! 😎 I check the AMCAS website every morning and night... still nothing.

Submitted 7/25

I also got the GW secondary about 2 hrs after I submitted. I'm clearly still at least a week away from getting verified...did this happen to anyone else?

Lol... yeah just my luck I guess.... maybe because I'm a reapplicant?? No idea

Aha, now that makes sense. I'm guessing the bulk of the verification process deals with course history, grades, and GPA calculation. Assuming that AMCAS keeps your grades on file and you didn't take many more courses, the turnaround time should be much faster, as you have experienced. Good luck this time around!

Still nothing since 7/20. 7 days and counting...

Question: I got an 'X' by one of my course listings, meaning AMCAS made some change to it, and it was a course listing discrepany not a grade discrepancy. Does that have any significance, meaning is any school really going to care about or even look at that?

If you are a reapplicant, that probably has something to do with it. All previous information from your original AMCAS is still in the computer and saved when you go to create a new AMCAS, so they only look to reverify any changes.

Hence, it will probably be done quicker.

gujuDoc... you're an all-star on this forum! How do you get time to answer everyone's questions or at least contribute to each thread? Haha.. I've been wanting to tell you for a while but I just never got around to it. Hope good things come to you, since you are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the process.

Its what happens when you have many many many friends who went through the process in the past year and will be starting med school.

That said, a friend of mine was a reapplicant and when he reapplied, he said that his old AMCAS stuff was already still there and so that's how I knew the answer to that question.

Submitted 7/14, verified today 7/27.

One weird thing:
I classified my Advanced Spanish class as FLAN like I was supposed to, but for some reason AMCAS changed its classification to PHYS... 😕

I don't feel like bringing it to AMCAS's attention because it'd probably be at least a week before they got it corrected...Anyway, it's not like I'm missing any real Physics classes...and I have more Spanish classes that are correctly classified, so it seems like a harmless mistake to me.

Are you trolling? That is simply impossible at this time in the AMCAS queue line. If you're for real, well then, that is great for you! Are you a reapplicant? Even then, other reapplicants had to wait about 4 days for late July submissions... hmm.

finally processed!

Hee Hee. I might have forgotten to mention that I am applying early decision to UNC. I think they must have bumped me up to the top of the list since the deadline was getting soon... 😛

Wow, only a week processing time for me! I was not expecting it to be so soon...

Helps to have your transcripts in early I guess.

That's probably worth correcting, because if schools notice, they'll realize that the classification will make the AMCAS bcmp gpa incorrect. I don't know if that works out in your favor, but probably worth correcting since it's still early in the app process and you don't want it coming back to bite you later.

Maybe I should have indicated EDP for University of Hawaii then, hehe. Good for you, though, Pithlit. Hope your UNC EDP goes well. I'm expecting that AMCAS verification notice any day now (8 days and counting)...

reasonable amount of time. not too happy how my overall gpa turned out 0.15 lower than i expected though. and this "AO gpa" is confusing, at first i thought this was my overall gpa and was shocked. i guess it stands for "all other" gpa minues your bcpm.

yup seems like 7 business days for ave. turnaround for now. but in august... ugh. that's gonna be hell.

Four weeks to the day. Not a single error on any of my courses. I can't explain why my application took longer than others. I suppose I lived up to the 4-6 weeks average. At least it's over.

I've been thinking about this all day and now I have to elaborate...

Here's what happened to me today. Around noon, I got an email from AMCAS stating that they had received my transcript from X University. I thought this was a bit odd, seeing as they had already sent me an email in May telling me the same thing from the same university. I called AMCAS and was told that "this type of thing happens all the time" and "sometimes schools just send us an extra transcript." I took it in stride. However, after thinking about it a little more, what schools send another transcript? I have become convinced that AMCAS lost my original transcript, didn't have the balls to tell me, and then requested another. Why else would my application get verified two hours later? So basically, I think I was on hold for nearly three weeks while they scrambled to find my transcripts. Am I just paranoid?

Transcripts: mid-May

Verified: 7/29 (?)

Well, I think it was verified today. I haven't received any email notification yet and the status on the AMCAS homepage hasn't changed from "Ready for Review," BUT I did receive 2 emails from Boston U this morning telling me that they just received my AMCAS and would like me to complete their secondary application. Hmmm... any ideas?
