I'm a reapplicant submitted early August my primary AMCAS, currently processing times is 8 weeks Meaning my app won't be complete until the very earliest END of SEPTEMBER.

Is there a point, should I withdraw? and apply next year?

"please be advised that the previously communicated timeframe of 4-6 weeks has been extended. At the present time, the verification process will take about eight weeks to complete. Medical schools are aware of this updated timeframe and recognize that it pertains to all applications equally."

I would definitely withdraw if I was you.

Don't withdraw! Everyone is in the same boat. I submitted July 10th, and I'm at least 3 weeks out from verification. Outside of SDN, a TON of people submit in late July and August. You aren't late; you're just not early. Schools know that things are being delayed, and they don't make decisions until mid October anyways. You still have plenty of time. 🙂

Just make sure you get all LORs in while you wait, and go ahead and write your secondaries. If you have a strong application, you'll be fine!

ETA: Ignore that guy ^. 🙄

How do you know the wait time is 8 weeks?

Does anyone know if the 8 week time is due to an excess of applicants? Or is AMCAS just having internal problems?

My friend called AMCAS and they told her that they had more applicants and that was the reason for the delay.

Guess we can expect 50-60000 apps this year :scared:

Why, OP, did you submit so late as a reapplicant? Do you enjoy donating your money to AMCAS?

You will be reapplying next year either way. Might as well withdraw and save your money.

Besides the money.
Anything to lose, by applying this year also?
Does 2nd time vs 3rd time matter?

She's (they're) lying. AAMC released data back near the end of June about how many apps they had received and how many they had verified by that point, and while the number of apps was higher than in previous years, it wasn't out of line with what you would expect. The only major difference was that AAMC was verifying apps much more slowly than in past years.

I suspect that this year the timeline is going to be more drawn-out than usual. Considering AAMC still hasn't finished with June submissions yet, and considering that June saw no more than 40% of applications get submitted, that means that an on-time completion is going to occur much later than usual this cycle. OP, while in past cycles being complete in October would have been a very bad thing, this cycle may be the first time where that's not the case.

As said before...why so late as a reapp?

I submitted in June and still haven't been verified so everyone is in the same boat. People on SDN are on top of their stuff so don't let everyone here freak you out. Other people I know haven't submitted yet. I wouldn't say submitting in August isn't that bad but it does seem bad this cycle. It also depends what your stats are and where you are applying etc...

If you miss this year you miss a year's salary down the road
Pre-write secondaries if you apply

So I take it you just threw our warning not to.apply this cycle right into the toilet. There's nothing more to say here. Don't withdraw and hope for the best. Just don't expect to be successful this cycle

Some schools don't let you apply more than twice. I think it will show a lack of judgement to have application in so late with very marginal improvements. But it's just my opinion so do whatever the **** you want.

Wait, so you're a reapplicant? ****. I would still apply if you have a strong application with improvement from last year. If your numbers are low or you haven't done any volunteering/research/something over the last year, I would consider withdrawing.

Don't be disheartened. Everyone is in the same boat. Med schools know the situation regarding how slowly the process is moving this year. Hell I submitted the first day it opened and it took me 6 weeks to get verified.
