I just noticed that the 2003 AMCAS application won't be available for another week (even though it was supposed to go live on Wednesday). UGH. This makes me nervous!!! :(

I also saw that it will be unavailable from 5-7 am everyday. As a west coaster, I thought this would be the perfect time for me to work on it. They are already screwing up all my plans!!

dumb amcas.

Oh man. I see that problems are occurring already. Last year it was delayed a whole month before it was launched online. Good luck. It seems that AMCAS didn't learn from their mistakes last year.

Hahahaha!!! The probs have begun again!! Enjoy y'all! Of course, I won't be laughing if I'm reapplying! <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />

I wouldnt worry about it too much, they got so much flack for all the crap that happened last year that they have been working on it non-stop since then. Things will never be as bad as they were last year.

At least if you're delayed then everyone else is also. On a selfish note I wouldn't mind a delay since I'm taking the August MCAT.

{A Stroll down nightmarish memory lane.} :p

Glad to see a Chomsky's quote.

If there's a way to screw up, they'll find it for sure. Bunch of incompetent mofos!!

Relax everyone! Delays just give us more time to get everything together for what is sure to be a fun year of applying, or possibly reapplying for myself.

expect more delays.

LOL! *points finger and laughs* Learn to live with it. <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Well, at least the delay is only a week and not a month......

Look at the bright side. :)

A week is nothing,. when you start talking about months of delay, thats when you should start worrying.

Nietzsche is also incredible. "God is dead. God is dead and we killed him." I have a feeling I'm half mistquoting there, but oh well. And how can you beat, "Why I write such good books"? My favorite is "Genealogy of Morals." :)

Oh my God, the AMCAS people still haven't learned. They are going to screw over more people this year. And they had a whole year to improve. Someone should really bitch slap those people.

here is some wisdom i learned from last year...
1) if you call amcas, always get the name of the person who has helped you
2) if they said they will fix something, ask for a fax conformationt that it will be done. stay on the line until they fax you the letter!!!
3) always double check everything they say by calling back the next day
4) if your on hold for too long (&gt;10min), have them call you back
5) remember that amcas has more than one phone number, so dont always use the one that is listed. change just one number and youll be surprised who you'll get
6) if things arent going your way, complain your ass off

if i think of anymore, ill let you guys know

For confused people/newcomers, see my thread from last year about Melvin.

I'm so glad I'm not doing AMCAS again this year. That was a nightmare last year. I got an email from a tech support person in October...for a problem I reported in July. If you are using AMCAS this year, good luck. Start working on it early, and don't be surprised when you lose hours of work in an instant.

For confused people/newcomers, see my thread from last year about Melvin.[/QB]••••I bet Melvin and Nancy ran off to the Bahamas and will never be seen or heard from again.

Again, for who these people are, when you can search, check out our "NIGHTMARE" from last year. But be WARNED......... what you read will not be pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    :p

I suggest thinking about who you all will be using for legal representation! Many of us only got our apps processed when we threatened legal action.

heheh,

If I recall correctly, they delayed it for 1 week initially, and then they delayed it for a month afterwards...

Last year, my app took 3.5 months to get processed and I know for a fact that some people who applied after me got theirs processed before me. Makes me wonder what the point of applying early was in the first place.

:(

oh, and i also saw that it is the applicants responsibility to notify amcas if their information hasn't been recieved by schools w/in 5-7 weeks of certification. what are we paying them for anyways?

<img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />
ok, i'm done complaining (for now). it's just that i generally trust people to do their jobs and am a little worried that i'm going to get screwed because of it. does anyone know which schools are going to have paper apps. again this year (like the UC's did last year?) and how important it is to submit both if they're offered?

I didn't for the UC's so by the time I learned they were required it was way too late. They never processed my apps. If you're not sure on this for other schools, just send them in to be safe.

NEVER email any corrections to AMCAS; a month later you will get a reply saying in order for them to correct anything, they will need to see it in writing <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> (wasn't funny at the time)

actually, i got in on may 1 last year and typed in my bio info.

I do not know where you took your info about that delay. I checked out their web site and there is no delay info. It is 1-st of May already but their application is not yet available.

Oops...I mean, sorry to hear that. Uh, yeah.

You actually have to click on the left hand side where it says "AMCAS 2003". That takes you to a new page, and it is there that it says may 8th. Your correct about the front page... they havn't updated it yet.

It says "on or about May 8" - so don't hold your breath next Wednesday! That is too funny. After dealing with this last year, I can't believe I'm going to have to deal with it again! Maybe I'll just wait until August to submit my application, and then get processed before all the people who submit in June and July. :)

•••••Have they actually done this for you? If so, this is a great idea.

Is there any way I can read about the Melvin post before the search capability comes back. I was told by a rep that Melvin could fix my problem, though he couldn't when I spoke to him, so I'm curious what any of you had to say about him.
