hi all,

i just looked over my amcas and noticed that they made corrections on half of my classes. is this a bad thing? how does this reflect on me? there were certain things that i was pretty confused about - for instance, my school classifies linguistics as a social science but amcas thinks its a foreign language. is this a big deal?

thanks!

No, it's no big deal. The only kind of corrections you need to worry about are when they have to correct that "A" you entered when you really got a "C" in the class (as shown on your transcripts).

What kind of "corrections" were they making? Grades? BCPM inclusions/exclusions? Typos on course titles?

It was mostly just details about courses that there were discrepancies on. If they didn't agree that a certain course had the right designation, they corrected it. Odd grades, like pass fails, AP credit that I didn't add...

Not a big deal, they are pretty picky on the whole thing. As long as you reported everything as close as you could I wouldn't worry.

If they changed it all cause you fudged it, then you might be worrying.

I had this also. I think that the way the year was supposed to be entered is different than what I thought. I started freshman year in 2001 - so for both fall and spring semester they labeled it 2001, even though the spring semester is in 2002. I think this is called "academic year".

I reported that I got an "A-" in three of my classes and AMCAS bumped them all up to an "A" when they verified it. I called and asked about it and they said there was no error and that they do that sometimes.

It was a nice feeling.

Yeah, don't worry. I had several courses from my speech-language path. degree switched to a bios classification because of blatant "anatomy" or "neurophysiology" in the titles. So I have about 7 X's for those courses. No big whoop.

I had some stuff I left off since I didn't think it was really 'coursework'. Pretty stupid of me. In any case, the stuff I left off is all p/f (and is only p/f at my school, it's not like I petitioned for p/f), and it was all pass. I don't think it's a big deal at all, certainly not like I was trying to hide anything.

I think the problem would arise if you had d's and f's you either entered incorrectly or 'forgot' to enter.
