1) I took a 4th year "project course"/"independent study course" where I basically did research in a lab. I listed it, but do I need to tick off any of the boxes? In the 102 page pdf AMCAS manual, it explains all the boxes, and in addition, for the advanced placement box, it shows that it can be used for things that aren't really advanced placement. One of the things is "experimental learning" (page 49). So should I tick off the AP box for my 4th year project course?

2) I took a first year non credit course (I believe it shows on the transcript though.) It was called "first year learning community" and it was just weekly meetings between 20-30 or so first year students to help us through the process. It shows up on the transcript. Should I check off any boxes for it?

Thanks,

1) Is it listed under a specific department or have a course number that is somewhat indicative of the content (e.g. MED 199)? I would lean towards selecting the area of focus of the research or "Other" as opposed to AP. I do not think this is what AMCAS meant by "Experimental Learning", but I could be wrong.

No, the course code is UNI495Y. It's offered by university college (my college) as an "independent study course".

Any other opinions?
