When the AMCAS first started the on-line application, it went down and never sent in applications to various schools. Lots of students were left with automatic rejections because their applications were never received. I knew one person who went from rejected to waitlisted to receiving an "I'm sorry" letter from the dean of UF saying that he had been accepted.
