Do I need to submit everything before I can view how they calculate it? I wouldn't care much, except that I had nearly 3 years of community college before coming back to school, and had a very poor GPA during that time. So, even though I've had about a 3.7 for the past 3 years, I'm worried that if they average everything evenly, it might drop me as low as a 3.0 or so. That'd suck.

So, is there a way to get them to verify without sending, or do I just have to complete everything, submit it, and wait for them to put it all together?

*edit* I may have misread haha

I'm pretty sure you need to submit it before seeing it. However, if you input it all into the DO application, it will give you some idea of what it will look like in case you decide to wait on things.

Every grade for every college course that you have taken will factor into your AMCAS gpa. This includes your community college courses. That is just the way it is and you cannot avoid it.

In your particular case, you will need to argue that your higher gpa at your university is the best reflection of your abilities. However, if your AMCAS grade point falls below 3.0, your application may get filtered out at some schools and never get considered on an individual basis.

Yeah, that's basically my concern. It's unfortunate cause the most recent class I took with those grades was over 5 years ago, but I guess we always pay for our mistakes. Hopefully it stays over a 3.0 at least and I don't get filtered without a second look!

You won't know your AMCAS GPA until it's verified. I'd suggest inputting all of your grades into the AACOMAS to at least get an idea instead of waiting that long to find out it's not as high as you want it to be.
Just my opinion 🙂

Well, it doesn't really matter what it is cause knowing it won't allow me to change anything. I have another year of undergrad, so regardless I just need to do my best to prove my poor academics are behind me (although I think it's pretty well proven at this point anyway).
