1. If you calculate your cumulative GPA to be for instance 3.695 or 3.795, would AMCAS round up to 3.7 or 3.8 in those cases? What about if you have a 3.666, would they round up to a 3.67?
2. Also, AMCAS says that they incorporate math courses into your GPA, which means any math class you've taken for which you've gotten a grade is incorporated into your science GPA? 3. Why would math be counted under science GPA? I have solid grades in Bio, chem, and physics, but I had to take literally 7 math classes since I started from the bottom, and out of those 7, 3 are B's and that's killing my sGPA.
4. Also, if I took a Psych class that emphasized statistical methods for psych research with the following description, what it be considered as part of the math category:
Analysis of statistical decision-making procedures used in psychological research. Lab: Considers problem-solving techniques and computational methods needed to analyze data obtained in psychological experiments.
I listed it as Behavioral and social sciences under my coursework since it was part of my psych major and it was a psych class on statistics, BUT AMCAS says the following:
The department offering the course is typically not a factor in the course classification. For example, a course should be classified as biology if the primary content is biology, regardless of the department that offers the course.
So I'm wondering if I would list this as Math or leave it as is under behavioral and social sciences.
5. Finally, for all of you that have already applied in the past or currently applying/have already been verified, do AMCAS GPA calculations tend to be higher or lower than what you calculated on your own for cumulative GPA and science GPA?
