I just wanted to clarify this:

I went to School X for a year (they used A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+ etc etc system)

then i transferred to School Y for rest of my undergrad (this school used simple A/B/C/D etc school...no + or -)

I transferred credits from school x to school y for credit and school y gave me simple A B C grades for it (For example, they converted a C+ to a C, B- To B)

now when i send transcripts to AMCAS for GPA calculation, would I need to send transcript from school X (would they count it like it was at school x with +'s and -'s) or would they just copy grades off of school y transcript without + or -

just wanted to clarify..thanks!

You do realize this is your 10th thread started in 14 days and the 3rd today? Try searching for related threads that have been previously discussed. I have no doubt these topics have been discussed before. I noticed most of your questions have to do with AMCAS so you can always go to their website. I know they have FAQ's and guidelines. Good luck.

Oh let it go, he's just a neurotic premed, we've all been there.
You have to send the original transcript to AMCAS, so AMCAS will see the grades with the +/-, and I think the original grade, not the converted ones, will count.

I think you have to send all transcripts and AMCAS will figure out a way to do the calculations. Sounds like they will be just taking everything from School Y since the grades were converted there. But don't worry about these things - AMCAS will do all the conversions.

This sounds very incorrect. Do you have anything to back this up or just speculation?

You should get the +/- gpa scale for the grades you received at your original university, it doesn't matter how your new university counted them. This is one of the reasons why many, if not most people's, gpas are different on amcas and their school transcript.

(YES... VERY INCORRECT!)

I've been down this road, so I'll chime in.

If you have gone to two undergrad institutions, you must send in your transcripts from every institution you attended. AMCAS will enter your grades as they appear on the transcript from the institution where that class was taken. So, if you got an A- at institute A, and institute B turned it into an A, it will be recorded as an A- as AMCAS. You can essentially disregard everything your new school did with regards to classes taken at previous institutions.

Also, when you enter your grades into AMCAS, make sure you enter them as they appear on the transcript from the institution at which you took that class. Incorrectly entered course information will keep your application from being processed as quickly once you officially submit it.

Thanks! I thought so..

I wonder what happens in this case:

For DO schools, I've heard they replace your grade with the new one. What happens if, lets say, someone took Orgo I at School A and got a C+ and then couple years later took Orgo I at school B and got an A. Would DO schools replace your grade? I mean, taking Orgo second time won't have the same exact course # since its taken at another school. I am curious what happens in this case.

That's a very good question... I know AACOMAS lets you do grade forgiveness, but I'm not sure how it works when the class was taken at a new school. My guess is that it would work the same as if you had taken the classes at the same school, but I didn't apply to any DO schools, so I'm not sure.

Perhaps you could field this question in the pre-osteo forums for a bit more help.
