Okay so I took Organic Chemistry over the summer, I earned a B- in semester I which I counted towards my college transcripts. I then got sick in the middle of the second semester with an undiagnosed serious case of monoucleous that brought tot he surface an immunological disorder...unfortunately I ended this semester with a D. My school only accepts summer school courses of a C or better, so obviously I was unable to count this for my college transcript. I retook the Organic Chem II the following summer and received an A.

When I fill out the aacms application, am I required to put both organic chemistry courses in even though I didn't receive any credit for the D???

If so, how will medical schools look at my science gpa . Right now I have a cumulative gpa 3.6 and science gpa 3.5....so I really can't affoard a huge hit to the gpa!!!

FYI: I have addressed getting sick and this screwed up organic chem grade in my draft of my personal statement.

Did you take it over the summer at your own school? If so, and there's no record of you taking it--meaning you couldn't possibly get a transcript showing your enrollment if you tried--I suppose you wouldn't have to report it. If you took it elsewhere, and your school simply didn't accept the transfer credit, you'll still have to report that you took it and send in the transcript from the other school. Hope that helps.

Yes, you will list both OChem II grades on your AMCAS application. You are obliged to send in a transcript from every post-high school institution attended, whether the credit was accepted by a second institution or not.

AMCAS will include every grade earned when it calculates your application GPAs. AACOMAS lists all grades earned but only includes the most recent in the calculation, provided the credit hours are the same or greater.

Yeah I took it at another school, and I have to send my transcript in to get my grade for the first semester... so there is unfortunately no way around that. But will it affect my BCPM?? Or will that just be calculated from courses I actually received credit for??

Thanks for your response/help!!
