1) im volunteering in the ER ~8hr/week but there have been some gaps (like 1 month) in between. how will the adcoms know this? should i just keep the 8hr/week for X years on the amcas application or make up the hours that i didnt volunteer?

2) im gonna shadow one of my distant family member (surgeon) for 3 weeks this summer. im going to do 8hr/day for weekdays only...so basically ~120 hours.
of course im not doing this just bc i want an exact amount of time but will adcoms look down on me bc i will be completing 100+ hrs in a small period of time?

I would do something like this.

350 hours
