Hi everyone,

I just got my AMCAS application verified yesterday!
Looking through the verified application, I've noticed that my total GPA has actually gone down compared to the one that I calculated myself using their metric system.
How do they calculate total GPA?

My science GPA was 3.69 and AO was 3.91. So wouldn't total GPA be the half of this?
But it was actually less than the half of those combined.

Thanks for your help!!

Well...no. Your total GPA would only be the average of the two if you took the exact same number of hours for science and AO. AMCAS calculates GPA with 4.0 for A, 3.7 for A-, 3.3 for B+, etc. So if you have a lot of A-'s, your GPA might go up a bit because most schools count that as a 3.67. If you have a lot of B+'s it might go down a bit because most schools count that as a 3.33.
