AMCAS unsupported browser issue

Is anyone else having a problem logging on to AMCAS? It keeps taking me to the page where it says I need to install a browser that supports AMCAS but they are all outdated and not even available to be downloaded. There must be an obvious solution to this that I'm overlooking. Thanks!

What browser are you using? I would recommend just downloading the newest version of firefox and using that. It works, I just checked.

i made an AMCAS account for giggles and my latest firefox is unsupported

last time i checked only ffox 3.0 versions would work. i searched this issue before and here is the total of what i came up with, but i have not actually tried any of these myself so i can't confirm that they work.
"if you are using ie 8, there is a button to the right of the address
bar. (it looks like a sheet of paper torn in half.) This will put the
browser in compatibility mode, and it should work. the button won't show up unless you are on the amcas login page."

"there's a way around it. in your address bar in firefox, type about:config and hit enter on the page that comes up, type useragent in the filter bar of the few items that are in the list, one of them will say something like general.useragent.extra.firefox. double click that one and change the value from Firefox/3.6 to Firefox/3.0
that should let you log into amcas"

In the address bar, type in about:config, say "yes I'll be careful" and change the general.useragent.extra.firefox from Firefox/3.5.x to Firefox/3.0

This is actually the problem. The latest versions are NOT supported, so you have to trick AMCAS by spoofing the user agent (see my above post).

What I did is that I installed the User Agent Switcher here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59


Basically, this just fools the website into thinking you are using another browser, and thus allowing you to log in. Once installed, you should be able to select several different user agents, from Internet Explorer and so on. I don't believe that an older firefox version is there. You can either modify it yourself to add Firefox 3.0 (if you know what you are doing), or you can just select Internet Explorer 7 and it should work fine. I completed my 2010 application like this without an issues at all.

Just make sure to put it back to Default User Agent whenever you are on another site, or those sites might look a bit off.

This works for me. And it's probably the easiest and quickest solution.

in filling out my amcas, i realized i had more activities than was allowed. how did you guys go about side stepping this? i have 1-2 more which i'd like to mention. addendum later afterwards? or avoid going over 15 period?
