So I have read the other posts on this topic but am still a bit confused. So my MCAT is on June 18th and my Committee letter writers don't meet until June 30th so does that mean I can still submit everything else from my primaries asap (first week of June)? Also why do people say only to apply to one school in order to get verified, why not apply to all schools as that would be more efficient to get your apps early right? Thanks in advance

You are correct.. but why apply to a lot of schools when you do not know your MCAT score? not a very smart move.... apply to one to get verified, pre-write secondaries while you wait for scores.

A lot of people will do Harvard or one of the top tiers as the "throw-away school" (assuming you are not a student who is actually competitive for HMS). If you are a top tier student, then maybe just do an low tier OOS private. Reason being that your "best shot" school may be one of your favorite state schools, but if somehow you bomb your MCAT you will now be a reapplicant (assuming you don't get in/sit out a cycle to retake MCAT)

Sorry to chime in, but I've never heard of this strategy before. I am retaking my MCAT at the end of June, so my score may not be in until late July/early August. So, something I could do would be to submit my application to a throw-away after taking my MCAT but before I get my score back in order to be verified by the time I do get my score?

That is it. The reasoning here is in order to apply early and get verified, is you need to include at least 1 school. Since choosing and applying to a medical school without your MCAT score, it would be risky to put all your schools down. Additionally, since once your application, verified, and transmitted to the single school, adding additional schools later when you have your MCAT score will only take 1 day. This does not increase your place in queue at the schools but solely to speed thru verification and thus ready for additional schools at a moments notice. If your are going to do this, I would suggest instead of a total throwaway use a high reach school. If you get lucky and you get a good MCAT you may have a shot.

BTW, as an advisor I am not a big fan of this strategy. My concern is the use of time and energy in preparing a great AMCAS that is speculative that might be put to better use in prepping for the MCAT.
