In this fine document (http://www.ascp.org/PDF/Fellowship-Reports/ASCP-Fellowship-Job-Market-Surveys.pdf), on the 2nd page, I read the following:

"For PGY-3/4 trainees, 66 percent have U.S. medical degrees, compared with 58 percent for PGY-1/2 residents."

The NRMP only tracks %age of allopathic seniors in the Match, versus everyone else. That percentage bounces around but has decreased from 2009-2012, when the people in this survey would have graduated. However, given that it excludes people like me (previous grads) who are relatively numerous in path, and DOs, I don't have an accurate picture as to the total number of people who graduated from a US institution would be.

Which leaves the alternative hypothesis-- do you think FMGs are fired more frequently, or quit?

Maybe you need to use that blonde brain of yours to think a little. NRMP does in fact publish data on the specific breakdown of the type of matched applicants. I cut out the data for Pathology for 2009-2012 (who would have been PGY1-4 in this 2013 ASCP survey) so it's easier to compare.

The number of IMGs matched in 2009 and 2010 (PGY3 and PGY4 in the ASCP survey) = (29+80+31+67) / (522+503) = 20%
The number of IMGs matched in 2011 and 2012 (PGY1 and PGY2 in the ASCP survey) = (39+106+33+96) / (518+521) = 26%

Of course the number of IMGs is actually higher because of prematch positions and IMGs finding spots through the scramble and SOAP. However, you can see that the difference in the %age of AMGs in upper years and lower years in the survey could be explained by the increase in the number of IMGs matching into Pathology alone.

FMGs in general (BIG STEREOTYPICAL BRUSH) are a lower quality than AMGs when you look at comm skills. This isnt racist or culturist or some other PC term. This pure fact. Of course there are outliers before some mentions Rosai, Dorfman, Kumar etc.

Outliers....but yes FMGs are fired at a far higher rate than AMGs from training program across the board in every speciality I imagine...sometimes with disastrous consequences too (points to UW).

But my question would be: who cares? how does this affect you?
There are many many fine great FMGs I would hire in a heartbeat. I trained with some. They are great.

unprecedented amount of writing about a very lame concept, pathology fellowship...........is this how pathologists occupy their time these days?

LOL I agree, why even take note of it

Thank you Cyan, I didn't know that data existed. The prematch system wasn't done away with until the 2013 "all-in / all-out" Match, so that wouldn't affect the 2009-2012 data.

So I guess the answer to my question is no.

Don't be silly. No one gets fired from a pathology residency. Or probably any residency for that matter.

I know right. It would seem impossible to fire someone but ****ty racist sexist hateful and hate mongering derive credibility from their hate agenda so it does happen.
