In this fine document (http://www.ascp.org/PDF/Fellowship-Reports/ASCP-Fellowship-Job-Market-Surveys.pdf), on the 2nd page, I read the following:
"For PGY-3/4 trainees, 66 percent have U.S. medical degrees, compared with 58 percent for PGY-1/2 residents."
The NRMP only tracks %age of allopathic seniors in the Match, versus everyone else. That percentage bounces around but has decreased from 2009-2012, when the people in this survey would have graduated. However, given that it excludes people like me (previous grads) who are relatively numerous in path, and DOs, I don't have an accurate picture as to the total number of people who graduated from a US institution would be.
Which leaves the alternative hypothesis-- do you think FMGs are fired more frequently, or quit?
