Amount of path on your exam

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
60 views and no votes...I'm assuming it is due to the fact that those who have viewed this have not taken the exam yet😕

I take the exam in 2 days and was just trying to determine what to focus on the most between now and then. You can keep your wise-ass comments, but I do, however, appreciate your first reply.

It is clear some folks in the forum are grossly immature. There is no such thing as a foolish question if one isn't clear about an issue. Hopefully, someone can address his/her question. I haven't taken the boards yet, so I cannot answer the question. It just irked me to read some of the childish comments, hence my response.

Oh get off your high horse, old man. THE IMMATURITY OF THESE YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPERS IS JUST TOO MUCH FOR ME. Go back to watchin your Andy Griffth Re-runs old timer.

Every test is different. To keep it simple, you probably know enough path, unless you shootin for that 280 status and are aiming for every single miniature factoid. For 95% of people, stick to these three:

1. Cell Bio (most of my obscure/experimental quesitons were about this, but still high yield)
2. Behavioral Sciences (easy points to miss if you dont know the stuff, but easy points to get if you know it. )
3. Neuro (the organ system with the most potential to completely mess you up on test day)

Aight?

Actually, there is such a thing as a 'stupid question', contrary to popular belief?

One should know that most of the exam is Path, that's why youll find more pages on it than other things in FA...

I was just curious, for those who have taken the exam, ~ what percentage of the exam did path compose?

If I had to put a % on it, I'd say 60-70%. There are always some questions that are disguised as some other subject, but require your knowledge of pathology to get through.

My exam on 6/15 was heavy on GI, cardiovascular, and renal (your's may differ). A fair number of the pathology questions were descriptive in nature, so know your "classic presentations and findings".

If you're 2 days out, I assume you have a specific list of things you want to look over in a last-minute-fashion, and not just going over everything and anything. If you insist on reviewing systems pathology at this time, I'd stick to some tables in Goljan and FA. Be careful how manage your time right now too!

Good luck on your test!

I agree with the above about Neuro. I didn't have a crazy amount on there (maybe 7-8 questions) but the questions I did have weren't covered that well in FA. I had to scramble things taught to me in class.

Which puts you at an interesting intersection on whether to put in alot of time for only 7-8 hard questions in a group or use FA and maybe get half.

Not sure if you've taken the exam, but I can appreciate your point of view. There is a such thing as a stupid question, but there are just as many stupid answers 😉 With that being said, the amount of material in FA/subject doesn't necessarily have to correlate with what will be on the exam, which is completely unpredictable from everything I've read on here. I've talked to several close friends who have recently taken it who said at least half of their exam was biochem and immuno, which is only represents 85 pgs in FA.

I just spoke to my cousin who took the board a few months ago. He said he had over 60% path. He swore by pathoma for his score-266/99

no matter how much path there is on your version, it's not gonna change what you study
so don't worry about it
