pls ans this ques-
facilitated diffusion differs from active transport in that net transport by facilitated diffusion
a)has a transport maximum
b)uses ATP as an energy source
c)requires a concentration gradient
d)occurs as an endergonic process
Facilitated diffusion takes place with the help of a carrier protein down the concentration gradient and no energy is required (since it is moving down the conc. gradient) Expenditure of energy takes place for moving against the conc. gradient i.e from areas of low conc. to higher conc.
So, the answer is c.
1.phosphenol pyruvate. energy of hydrolysis for phosphate compounds is given in a table in Kaplan review book, biochem section.phosphenol pyruvate has the highest with -14.8 .
I also would like to know the answer of the first question. I think the question is asking the hydrolysis of which compound release the greatest amount of energy (ie the free energy G is the greatest decrease). Can anybody explain please..

question from previous paper.
Hi
plz ans this
von willberand disease is charcterized by each one except ?
normal platelet count
normal coagulation time
prolonged bleeding time
decreased level of factor VIII c
.decreased level of VWF
Thanks
.
i think ans is (a).vWF is reduced,so is factor VIII reduced.
in vW disease, platelets dysfunction secondary to reduced vWF.its a qualitative platelet disorder,in which primary hemostasis(platelet plug) is defective.so,prolonged bleeding time.no coagulation cascade disorder,so normal coagulation time.
just eliminating ans,so ans shud be (a).
pls correct if wrong.
Hi
thanks pbkal
bt i think platelet count is normal in Von willebrand's disease
what is the correct ans??
Hi
plz ans this
von willberand disease is charcterized by each one except ?
normal platelet count
normal coagulation time (ans)
prolonged bleeding time
decreased level of factor VIII c
.decreased level of VWF
Thanks
.
Tricky, I say B because all others def true. You may have increased PTT because of decreased factor VIII.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Hi,
there is prolonged bleeding time becoz it is a qualitative disorder of platelets. The word itself says not quantitative disorder.
One more thing is there is associated Factor VIII decrease so coagulation time and PTT are increased.
Correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks

i hv doubt bt dysphonia & dysplasia
plz explain !
Anterior guidance can be increased by increasing the vertical overlap(steeper post cusps) and can be decreased by increasing the horizontal overlap (flatter post cusps)
what is the location of a second canal in lower 1st pm -- lingual, if present
Pls correct me if i am wrong

Hi,
mallory bodies are inclusion bodies commonly seen in alcoholis even without hepatic failure.Gynecomastia occurs due to hyperestrogenism as estrogen is not degrded by liver.
